... why do we insist on stooping down to third-world levels of hatred to get our points across? Looking through these threads I see comments supporting the Qu'ran burnings, about not allowing mosques to be built until churches are built in Saudi Arabia, "Everyone Draw Muhammad Day," etc. If you feel that you as a Christian American are so much better than these people, why do you support the very same hatred these "lesser people" support? Shouldn't America be an example of freedom and tolerance?

Yes of course, but we are actually no better than they are. Americans are no longer Americans and have become third world assholes. This is what fear does to cowards. Every simpering idiot who has no real faith in his principles needs everybody else to die in case they might harm him or point up how fearful he is. Most Americans today have devolved into garbage and fodder for the Republican party which loves them that way.

Say Islam is bad, get a vote. America has been captured by swine.

^ this. pretty much. Fear is an interesting emotion. More times then not it can damage whatever you are trying to do. It really has no place in our modern world.

It is a market. How much money has been made with certain products right after 9 /11 ?
The fear of the people is used to make money, nothing more.
It is simple mass psychology.

The radical Islam people do the same. They use the fear of the people with an Islamic religion as a means to invoke hate towards the infidels of the west( yes that means me too). While collecting a lot of money or at least gaining power. Same thing applies. Mass psychology.

To a point. There comes a point where enough is enough, and they can destroy us.

So you don't believe in the "being the better man" philosophy? Or "turning the other cheek" as your Lord and Savior did?

I am an agnostic, so no, I don't. I believe that if you don't stand up for your ideals you might as well not have any.

Do you often try to put words in peoples mouths?

My ideals on what?

The topic of this thread is "If America is the greatest country on Earth, why do we insist on stooping down to third-world levels of hatred to get our points across?" Your posts defend the notion that it's OK to do that by statements such as "if you don't stand up for your ideals, you might as well not have any."

No, I don't often try to put words in people's mouths, but judging from a post not 10 minutes ago in another thread where you were the one stating what someone else "said," I garner that you do. :)

Are you asking Christians specifcally? Because as a non-religious American I don't see what the big deal is with drawing Muhammad. I see burning the Koran (or whatever the en vogue spelling is these days) as more or less the same thing as burning the US flag... Not a fan but we have a 1st ammendment for a reason so if you want to be a butthole about it go for it.

And anyway... I'm not sure what your point is or why you're targeting christians. Why not ask Jewish Americans how they feel about Muslims? Or Buddhist Americans? Or Pagan Americans? Athiest Americans?

He didn't put words in your mouth, you did. He suggested the obvious implications of what you said. You have no idea when enough is enough or what it means to stand up, but you use words you don't understand anyway.

I'm an atheist and I still think those are pretty good ideas to live by. What are your ideals? You have us all interested in what you stand up for.

Everyone Draw Muhammad Day was protest in support of free speech. This was a protest about a group of Muslim threating artists who draw representations of the prophet Muhammad. It's an example of fighting for freedom. Why should we have to follow something in which we don't believe in?

People are going to be mean and hatred but you can't say that the hole America is like this. We as a hole can't change how people act. There is going to be people like this in all countries.

America is a land of freedom and freedom of speech and with this you get hatred comments about other people but again you can't blame the hole country for this.

Need I remind you that you're referring to peaceful protests?

If you want to ban flag burnning, and ban disrespecting religious symbols, then you can have the Qu'ran and Muhammad protected. Is it really the manner of protest that is bothering you, or is it the subject?

If it's the subject you wish to protect, why should one religion above all others be protected? Especially when it is seen as an opponent and the source of modern terrorism against us.

Idk, maybe Americans are human to and have opinions. And what you are really getting at is some people's opinion bothers you. Boo hoo, Islamic countries are hypocritical and if drawing a pic of Muhammed offends anyone then so what, that is a American right. I can offend you by drawing a pic of Muhammed if I want to, whereas I would go to jail in some other countries for doing that. That is America being America right there, freedom of expression. You can also draw a pic of Jesus and no one will kill you for it here. So it goes both ways.

And we have always been that way. Ever see the propaganda images from WW2 ? The Japanese were demonized like crazy.

"They" don't have to destroy us. Hateful bigots like you are doing it for them daily from the inside.

Why are you filled with so much self hate? Did a republican kick your puppy?

The preamble to our once respected, once honored Contstitution begins, "We, the people of the United States." Our forebearers fought and died to establish and defend the values enshrined in that Constitution, including the freedom of speech and religion for ALL peaceful, law abiding American citizens, including Muslim Americans.

Why do you hate our Constitution? Why do you hate the United States of America? :'(

You wish to protect their speech but not ours? We've a right to oppose them the very way your Left oppose Christians.

You think there was ever a case in this country where a Church was not allowed to build where ever it wanted?

Why do you?

So...where was that point? Because there were plenty of examples of this kind of behavior before 9/11, so that can't have been the 'point'. So, where, or what, then, was the point?
