FF nevver crashes. IE7 will crash at least once per day if I keep it open long enough on Facebook(the only website I use IE7 for), but that's likely because Facebook is so crappy.

What's wrong with Facebook in FF?

I use both of them. I prefer FF because of addons but I don't complain about having to use IE7.

Facebook just chunks out any browser I use. So I quit using it in FF so I can continue surfing elsewhere without slowdowns. I'm not sure why it's happening, but it might have something to do with WinXP 64 or perhaps my scant 1gb of RAM(WinXP 64 likes eating half that 😱).

how many are unique though?

As I've sasid in the rest of the 8million FF threads, I see nothing special about FF that Opera hasn't had or came out before FF.

Wait. Is FF 3.0 finalized? I thought it was RC3?
The filesizes of the install packages for RC3 and Final were exactly the same.

I've also seen FF3 crash anywhere from 1-5 times a day.
Then some days it doesn't crash at all. I don't know what gives.
Sometimes I can be reading a thread, not even moving the mouse, and it'll crash.

Still, it loads pages considerably faster than FF2.

The big seller for me is their add-ons.

Adblock Plus
Firebug
NoScript

Let me know when Opera or other browsers has something that does all those things as well.

Opera 9.5 has a built-in "content blocker", but I haven't been able to get it to work as well as FF + Adblock. Maybe I'm missing something.

If I could find something for Opera that worked as well as ABP, I would use it more and consider switching. I love FF3 + AdBlock Plus.

God damnit, not another browser war thread. WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU NERDS SO OBSESSED WITH WHAT BROWSER YOU USE????? Who honestly gives a shit about browser market share? Seriously, WHO CARES??

Really, I have the exact opposite effect. FF crashes like crazy but I haven't had IE crash on me for months. Not too mention FF has trouble occasionally rendering web pages and it's buggy as hell and hogs up memory like crazy.

I use both, to me neither is that much better than the other. Now that FireFox 3 has been released, I'm using it instead of IE7. But when IE8 comes out I'll see what it is like and maybe switch back.

No one is talking about browser market share other than the OP. Why do you click on, and post in, threads you don't care about? Why do you get so worked up over nothing?

because nerds are downloading it just to download it. I wouldn't be surprized if some logged on to all 100 machines in a computer lab and downloaded it for each account. It's going to mess up the numbers of how many are actually using it.

i use all three (technically). FF is my primary browser. The other 2 are only installed to ensure the sites i develop work on all browsers

Those relative numbers blow away the competition. Go go Opera.

Download day is over, and they just passed 8 million.

I dumped IE7, skipped right over FF, and proceeded to Opera...haven't looked back yet. Love the browser and its quick response and easy of use

Installed Firefox 3.0 last night, decided it didn't really improve, and then went to update from Opera 9.27 to 9.5. Very minor gripe, I don't like the smaller "x" on the end of each tab. Otherwise, great.

FF 2.0 crashed a lot and I stayed with 1.5 for a while until like 2.0.0.5 or something came out for FF. IE7 does not crash. In fact NEITHER crash.

Extensions for FF rock, but honestly, do you need them to live? Nah, I think if you're talking basics vs basics, IE7 is fine, and to say you're switching to FF to avoid popups and viruses and stupid things, then you're probably pretty stupid at surfing the web. I remember IE 6.0 + SP2 + Googlebar = almost everything is gone.

With that said I feel that IE7 uses the HD a lot, and if it can't render something instantly, the program slows to a halt whereas FF seems lighter on the CPU and HD. Memory leaks was always an issue for me an FF and while it's gotten better, a lot has chnaged from the 1.5 days where IE7 would use like 100mb but FF would use like 800mb.

Anyways, FF3,0 is just pure awesome. Good thing Adblock works too, but I guess the other extensions might have to wait.
