Really, I have the exact opposite effect. FF crashes like crazy but I haven't had IE crash on me for months. Not too mention FF has trouble occasionally rendering web pages and it's buggy as hell and hogs up memory like crazy.
FF 2.0 crashed a lot and I stayed with 1.5 for a while until like 2.0.0.5 or something came out for FF. IE7 does not crash. In fact NEITHER crash.
Extensions for FF rock, but honestly, do you need them to live? Nah, I think if you're talking basics vs basics, IE7 is fine, and to say you're switching to FF to avoid popups and viruses and stupid things, then you're probably pretty stupid at surfing the web. I remember IE 6.0 + SP2 + Googlebar = almost everything is gone.
With that said I feel that IE7 uses the HD a lot, and if it can't render something instantly, the program slows to a halt whereas FF seems lighter on the CPU and HD. Memory leaks was always an issue for me an FF and while it's gotten better, a lot has chnaged from the 1.5 days where IE7 would use like 100mb but FF would use like 800mb.
Anyways, FF3,0 is just pure awesome. Good thing Adblock works too, but I guess the other extensions might have to wait.
