Yes it is if they present themselves at any place other than a port of entry. Facts should be given a lot more weight than emotion. Something to think about.

"Under federal law, anyone from another country can seek asylum — and therefore entry into the U.S. — by claiming to have fled their countries out of fear of persecution over their race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. Immigrants are eligible to apply for asylum for up to one year after their entry into the U.S., and can apply whether they entered the country legally or illegally. Immigrants who have been in the country longer than one year can also apply for asylum status if they meet certain criteria, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, an agency of the Department of Homeland Security. More recently, asylum seekers have also been granted status due to their gender and sexual orientation."

American's chickens are coming home to roost due to economic policy like free trade agreements, wars, the drug war, greed, the economic race to the bottom so the 1% can have more,

so what to do about this situation?

How about housing these children and families in the rich neighborhoods that the 1% live so they can see first hand the results of the decisions their bought and paid for politicians make on their behalf instead of forcing the rest of the struggling middle class to take up the burden they created.

Crossing the border at other than a port of entry is a crime. Seeking asylum is not and never has been a crime. Those are 2 separate and distinct acts.

You really need to take your own advice.

Or you know you could push for tax policies that actually make sense, invest in education at all levels, infrastructure, stop shitting on unions, address universal health care, etc, etc, etc.

Edit: haha, quote from the article: "We all know that Donald Trump is a great fan of facilitating direct feedback from the public, because he personally published the cell phone numbers of both his Republican primary opponent Lindsey Graham and Univision anchor Jorge Ramos..."

Thank you for making that clarification. Crossing illegally and then proclaiming you are seeking asylum means a crime has still been committed. I really failed to make that distinction clear.

I'm also glad to see that you recognize the difference between legal and illegal immigration. It seems to be rare these days.

Careful, you had to sidestep an important post above that called out your bullshit.

Also, stop being a craven turd. That's just general advice though, it applies to just about everything you say or do.

By the way, are those specific ports of entry being blocked? Turns out that is the case... so what then, asshole?

Silly lefties and their steadfast convictions and morality. Dreams and desires for the death penalty for folks that temporarily separate kids from their criminal parents......yet wail and gnash teeth when the executioner turns to someone who separated families by killing parents and kids. Yes, you are so civilized.

But then you would create a martyr. Much better to put him in prison for life then to seek feel good revenge for his horrible act. This would be the civilized thing to do. If you kill him all of the other radicals will just assume he got 42 virgins. Lucky him. Plus you end up costing your state 10's of millions.
