IBM has officially been sold. :(

No, IBM has been moving away from the PC market as it will not provide them the growth Wall Street is expecting. News of this sale from the beginning of the week has actually helped their stock as many analysts said it was about time. Although, IBM has sold its PC division it will have an alliance with the buyer to produce IBM branded PCs and Laptops.

Under $2 billion? I'm surprised IBM let itself go for that little.

As someone stated, it is just the IBM PC division and not all of IBM. IBM makes over $6 billion in a month.

In return, they got a 19% share in Lenovo, which might pay them back big time in the future. IBM isn't stupid.

"With speculation about the impending deal mounting Tuesday, IBM's stock fell $1.57 per share to $96.10 in trading on the New York Stock Exchange."

Good point. Analysts are seeing this as a way for IBM to leave the low margin PC and laptop market but to also gain a foothold in the growign chinese market through Lenovo.

Name a better PC laptop, asswipe.

I'll admit my dislike for IBM laptops is somewhat dated.
Back in the days of NT, I had to do a roll out of 100+ thinkpads and it was a nightmare

asswipe

ThinkPads blow Toshiba away. I own a T21 for 3.5 yrs now. Dropped it once to the floor. Still works like new.
