It keeps track of your weight and progress, gives you tips, and has a menu for food. But the best part is that it offers a blog to members that allows you to upload photos. It also has teams where you can keep track of everyones progress. I started a group called Anandtech Fitness.

Joined 🙂

I still haven't filled anything out though. It'll take me a couple days to figure things over there, in relation to what I need to do here.

Ok here it is:

Weight Loss

Goal:
To lose at least 50lbs. About the same amount of weight I put on after high school.

I like it. I just joined up and will fill out more details later.

Thanks Quasmo! 🙂

I'm in (even though I probably have the most embarrasing body in ATOT). I'll have to wait to send pics until I get home though as I don't want to scare my co-workers 🙂.

TallBill, any chance we could get that fitness discussion thread going early? I had a few lifting questions/topics of discussion I wanted to bring up prior to starting. Also it might be nice to share with each other what we're eating/planning on eating. I've already started my new diet, but I'm open to more ideas.

Agreed. I have questions myself (as usual).

 to the guys who are ballsy enough to post their before pics. i know a lot of people who wouldn't even do that.

Tallbill if you are taking judges, I'll be a judge if you need anymore.

We are trying to push for a fitness forum on Anandtech. Go to the suggestion box and put some input in. I dont think the mods will like a zillion threads for this one competition. If we had a separate forum then we could go hog wild. For now, maybe post some questions in here. There are a million diets and workout routines, you just have to pick the right one for you.

And purbeast0, I'll add you as a judge, someone actually nominated you but I couldn't speel your name right for a pm.

Ok, I have 2 questions:

1.) how much protein should I REALLY be taking in? Some body building sites tell you 1.5 or 2 grams per lb of body weight. Even if I were at my target weight of 200 lbs (235 right now), that would seem ridiculous. 400 grams of protein! Imagine the calories I'd be taking in at the same time! I'd have to spend hours on the treadmill/bike every day! By the end of today I will have taken in approximately 2000 calories and about 120 grams of protein. To even get a 1:1 ratio between body weight and protein I'll have to start downing whey protein shakes. Which I will do, if it is that important.

2.) ... I forgot my second question. 😱

TallBill, I added my input in the suggestion box, I think a separate Fitness & Nutrition forum would be awesome.

No, no, no. You want to look as bad as possible in the before pics. It'll be easier to claim victory in the end. 😀

Which is why I decided on Journals and Judges. Pictures simply dont tell the whole truth.

I just saw this thread. I'll join too. My GF and I have been meaning to do this ourselves. actually, we started last week, I hope one week of progress doesn't disqualify me. But, I'm not out to win, just to make my GF think I have hot arms again.

Journal:
Coming soon. My plan will likely be what I did ~2 years ago but fell off the bandwagon due to lack of motivation. I want to do some simple dumbbell exercises and dancing. With the dumbbells, I will add reps or weight with each time I exercise. I will keep a log of the exercise, weights used, and reps I could achieve with BOTH sides of my body (I won't let the right arm do more than the left arm to keep symmetry). With dancing, I want to look good doing the Samba, instead of my current crap Samba (and you better believe a Samba is the most fun possible exercise for abs). Of course, I'll keep up all the other dances, but they aren't part of my goal.

Stats:
Height: 5'9"

Weight July 17, 2007: 152 lbs. Heaviest I've ever been before last month was 150 lbs, before last year: 135 lbs was my max. I'm 30 years old and packing on the pounds just like all my previously skinny uncles who are now 50+ years old and fat and they changed at age 30.

Measurements soon, GF and I will be measuring each other closely tonight. It may lead to a workout. 😉

Category:
Body Recomposition

Goal:
Stay at ~150 lbs, but move the mass from my stomach to my arms and some legs. Try to eat healthier.

Weight: 150 lbs

More goals coming soon.

Pics:
Pics will be taken tonight, and posted in the coming week I hope.

I'm still in for the losers category. I will get some pics and put in my application as soon as I can get around to it.

Fuck it. Count me in. I'll post a side pic of myself later this week. This might be fun (and a good reason to use my newly joined gym membership!)

ok, i'm in for the beer drinking category.

🙂
good luck to everyone. Great idea Tallbill
