Unfortunately that probably wouldn't fly in court. But it's not like MS takes pirates to court anyways.Originally posted by: MotionMan

I like how you put that. I will have to remember it.

Windows 7 is said to be just as bad as Vista, which means XP will be even more popular than it is now. I can't count the number of people I've spoken to that say they hate Vista but they don't have any choice in the matter. Luckily, a lot of them did choose the XP downgrade, so I was able to reload XP onto it for them.

Well, if Windows 7 is indeed as bad as Vista, I suppose I'll be installing it on release day.
I don't know what the hell all the Vista haters smoke (you guys probably are Apple fanboys I guess), but I've have 0 problems from day 1 with Vista. In fact, I like it better than XP. It runs faster, is easier to use, and looks better to boot. Vista 64 bit, not a problem in the world with it.

LOL are you saying with bad drivers Vista can keep from crashing?
Interesting because I get random BSOD's from my MB built in NIC's drivers and my keyboard drivers cause Vista to BSOD every boot. I had to uninstall them. Never device gave me any problem in XP ever...
Vista takes way more memory and crashes more for me. I don't like XP but I really don't like Vista.

I dare you to name a problem you've personally experienced with Vista.
Bugs on initial release:
1 - Trillian logging would not work. I'm sure I could have fixed the rights to the directory, but had no issues in XP so now its an issue whether or not it can be resolved.
2 - Dual Monitor usage would make my screen completely unusable. All I could see were mostly green wavy lines. Only way to fix it was to SOMEHOW (using the keyboard / mouse without being able to see) get it back to single monitor or reboot the computer in safe mode. Did not have this issue in XP with the same setup. (I should note: This issue was random but frequent)
3 - Slow. (Asking if I used 32 bit vs 64bit is irrelevant. 32bit XP works just fine, therefor this is a Vista issue)
4 - Game support such as Starcraft (yeah old game, still, didn't have this issue before)
Issues that remained after SP1 (I stopped using it then tried it again after SP1 release)
2, 4 and possibly 3 but I didn't use it long enough to find out.
A lot of people like to blame "ancient hardware" or just the hardware in general... 2 things:
1 - It worked before using Vista
2 - Even if this is the case, an OS forcing me to change hardware is a problem. Costs me more money.
That being said, I don't mind Vista all that much. I most definitely prefer XP though.
EDIT:
Forgot: Another issue with Vista -
Could not use the RAID on my mobo. You can relate this to my 2nd set of numbered bullets.

I love this. You know what, let me respond...
1 - Trillian ALWAYS had a problem even with WinXP and multiple profiles. Ironically, I think I was the first one to actually figure out how to get 3.0/3.1 to work with user profiles in XP properly. Other than that, it's not our fault if you don't know how to right-click and select "Run as Administrator" on install.
2 - Never once had a problem with dual or even 3 monitors in Vista. My guess - you were using old drivers or something to that nature.
3 - Slowness? Simply untrue. Synthetic benchmarks maybe, but other than that I find my Vista machines just as responsive as any XP machine I've worked on, save a completely fresh XP install with absolutely nothing on it.
4 - Game support? Starcraft? I ran Starcraft for several months just fine on 3 different Vista boxes, along with my friend. Even used DXWin without problems. Occasionally had issues with networking, but that's because that particular machine at my previous employer had me on a completely different (administrative) subnet as 99% of the rest of the company. Got that out of the way and life was grand - not a Vista problem either.
I do have ONE solitary game which has an issue with Vista - UB Funkeys (my son's game). Won't run on my desktop - but that's not because it's Vista, that's because it's 64-bit. Runs absolutely fine on my wife's 32-bit Vista laptop.
There are a few examples of more common software which Vista doesn't like so much. I know exactly why too. For that reason that software is outdated and SHOULD be replaced from a security standpoint. Hardware compatibility? I have none, unless you're trying to install Vista on an old 486 with VLB video cards or something.
So any other myths that need to be debunked?

I've been having some BSODs with Vista. I think the blame lies on Dell's graphic driver though.
