I want. Hexikopter

This is just a more complicated quadrotor. Plenty of kits and websites dedicated to homebrew UAVs. I know we use quadrotor control as a project for the masters of engineering kids that work under my advisor. You can do some pretty neat stuff with them.

My lab has a VICON system (movie studios and game studios use it as mocap, we use it for super accurate indoor GPS for our robots), and with a a very good pose estimate and a solid controller you can make a quadrotor do just about anything. It doesn't even look real.

That's pretty impressive given the size of the rotors. I can't even imagine how the control system works. I assume the arms can control their pitch slightly to affect roll, pitch, yaw.

The arms don't move. Direction is adjusted by changing the speed of sets of the rotors.

No, you can have complete control by just controlling the rotor speed of each of the rotors. There are some restrictions for which rotors are rotating in the same direction, but as long as you've sorted that out correctly you can do whatever you want.

DUH! Makes prefect sense. Thanks. I was thinking too much like a regular remote controlled helicopter and blade pitch.

pic someone plz, video blocked @ work 🙁

seems cool from all the discussion, cant wait to visually appreciate its awesomeness

I saw that a few days ago, pretty neat machine.

Although a triceracoptor would be neat too.

Me likely. But I know it will not last in my hands.

it will go like this

sdifox :"Cool, new toy is here."

(sdifox rips open the box and quickly assembles aircraft)
(sdifox then proceeds outdoors and puts aircraft on ground)

sdifox:"Let's fire this baby up"

(sdifox pushes throttle to max, at the same time turns aircraft)
(Aircraft accelerates rapidly, turns sharply towards the right)
(Aircraft crashes into wall, bursting into a million pieces)
(sdifox looks stunned and appear to be in tears)

And a car is just a more complicated horse-drawn carriage. 🙄

No, he's correct. I've seen the quadrotors before, but the hexagonal arrangement seems to be much more aesthetically pleasing. They also have an oktokopter, and again, the hexikopter looks cleaner.

I personally think the ideal thing is to make a small scale looking deck with a clear window & stick some hamsters inside. Equip it with a small loud speaker. "Earth creatures, we have arrived from..." Ehhh, maybe the hamsters would be too much of a giveaway. But, I guarantee you that if I had one, UFO sightings in my area would skyrocket.
