I second that opinion. Rice tastes better if you eat it w/ your hand.

I find it so hard to eat with my hands without smashing food against my face. It always takes some sort of dexterous maneuvering to get it into your mouth cleanly.

Agreed.
<--- Chinese
I personally think a fork is simpler to use, easier to use, as well as more flexible and can pick up more things. There are some rare items that a chopstick is better at, but all and all, forks FTMFW.

Heck, if you want to start looking at people's eating utensils, the bare hand is the better than anything, but that's considered bad manners in most civilized nations.

It depends, the fork is more efficient for most things. But for rice (what asians eat most), it's easier to use a chopstick than fork.

No. ONLY for sticky rice can you use chopsticks, and a fork works better for that anyway.

I've seen many people use chopsticks for NON STICKY rice such as shrimp fried rice.

Yep. I hate chopsticks because of all the pretentious white people who sit around eating sushi like they're Asian from birth.

Truth. The Only thing that a Asian cannot use a chopstick for is soups and stews, for obvious reasons.

I actually think its harder to use forks than chopsticks.

I don't know about you, but Chopsticks are much better for eating than forks. I can eat individual grains of rice, not struggle to pick up peas, eat noodles without them slipping off my fork and do all kinds of neat stuff.

I thought Koreans didn't use chopsticks...

... wow.

As per Wikipedia:

Unlike other chopstick cultures, Koreans use a spoon for their rice and soup, and chopsticks for most other things at the table. (Traditionally, Korean spoons have a relatively flat, circular head with a straight handle, unlike Chinese or Japanese soup spoons.)

Looks like I thought half-right.

i'm pretty sure all asian cultures use spoons for their soups

And for their rice? No.

Have you been to Korea?

6 of on 1/2 dozen of another if you ask me. I'm 1/2 Chinese and proficient enough at using chopsticks that I don't have any problem using them to eat just about anything. At home I use both depending on what I'm eating.

Logically, it just seems that chopsticks more or less does the same thing requiring more dexterity and effort.

They also can't pick up small flat pieces sticking the the plate as well, because they're straight so you can't scoop with leverage.

I think asians use chopsticks for traditions sake, and white people for novelty sake.

I'm abandoning them as of now.

This is spoken like someone that doesn't know how to use chopsticks.

 so there really is no non-disposible hashi and those plastic knives and forks you get in plastic wrap are meant to be kept?

just cause you can use chopsticks doesn't mean you use them well.

You should move on from denial into acceptance and just figure out that it's not the chopsticks that are the problem, but you.

because one is chinese doesn't mean they understand their culture or even know how to speak any of the native dialects. You do get on inate ability...being chinese means you are born a black belt.

I like eating with chopsticks actually and I'm pretty good with them and I even eat rice with them (not cooked in a rice cooker at home). ;) I always eat sushi with chopsticks.

You know what they say, when in Rome...or a Chinese or Japanese restaurant. ;)

Most people reuse chopsticks.

all people that use them at home, reuse them. Now getting take out with crappy wood ones ofcourse is thrown away.

I have to agree they are not that useful. And contray to popular belief not every asian country uses them. Such as Thailand uses spoons and forks

Why would you use utensils when you have fingers?

Fuk you, just cuz you have nothing go through your head before you speak doesn't make you cool.

I happen to use chopsticks perfectly, "you should've read a few more posts" until the one i mentioned i'm a master at the wet marbles game.

you like hearing your own voice, and that is just sad cuz , ur probably just in denial that no one likes you.

my first line was DON"T hate, and you simply couldn't get that through your ugly thick skull
