What's the exact penal code you were arrested under? How could it be THEFT... if the property was LOST.

BailBondsmen don't take cash... they take collateral.. You know.. your car... your house... whatever... and if you skip... they take your shit... if you don't.. you pay the day of your hearing.

I still find your whole story full of shit...

You get out on 9/18... and the only thing you did here was bump your Blu Ray thread? If this happened to me.. i'd post the story on every internet website, every newspaper, every radio station i knew of. I would not wait a week to "think about it"

Prove it to us by posting a picture of your arrest paperwork.

You know bail bonds man here will take a percentage of the bail set by the jail...In my case the bail was $1000 so my girlfriend had to pay the bail bonds man $150 to get me out...I don't exactly know HOW it works...but it does...at least here in Georgia.

Papers of my arrest? Wish I had them, was never given anything...I do however have the slip of paper with the address and phone number of the Newton County Public Defenders paper they gave me...the rest was tossed as it was all legal mumbo-jumbo that I read over and didnt need to keep.

As far as actual papers and shit goes, I didnt get any...and thats NOT BS...Im sure you can look me up...Newton County name is Scott Vater.

Need more proof? Don't have any...

AndroidVegeta is a cop-hating drug-addled punk child with nothing better to do than make up far-fetched stories of police excess. If he was really sent to jail, it's because he attempted shoplifting to stick it to the man and failed miserably.

Are you SERIOUSLY being SERIOUS??? I don't hate cops (my ex-fiance's parents were BOTH cops)...I don't hate them at all...wanted to be one for the longest.

And drug-addled? I SMOKE WEED YOU DAFT PRICK! If I were some meth head or some shit by all means insult...but weed? Fuck off.

Shoplifting? No. Didn't realize finding a already in use phone is considered shop-lifting.

Your post is the most ridiculous post I've ever read on ATOT...AND THATS SAYING A LOT!!!

You seem to know more about this stuff than I do...:whiste:

Yes, I know a lot more about you than you do. If you laid off the harder stuff life may be different.

Well.. according to that site... the charge was:

Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property

This refers to the lost wallet you might find. If you discover something you know or end up learning was lost or mislaid by another person, and you take possession of it without attempting to return it to its rightful owner, you have committed theft of lost or mislaid property.
**All of the above theft offenses will be charged as a misdemeanor (fines up to $1,000 and up to 1 year in prison) as long as the value of the property was under $500.

This seems to be a subset of Shoplifting laws.

Am i a lawyer? Nope... just bored.

So... what else aren't you telling us about your story?

Did you follow this lady around .. see her put down her phone... take it and walk out? If you went to WalMart for snacks... how long were you there that you couldnt wait 2 minutes for the snacks to be purchased that you needed to immediately go out and smoke.

And you didn't get any paperwork? No Bench appearance ticket? According to the info i found on that charge.. you're looking at jail time. If you're serious about this... You NEED to have a lawyer.

Now let me say that I had every intention of turning the phone into Sprint the next day. When in the back of the cop car I asked the cop what I SHOULD have done...he tells me I should have brought it to the police station...I ask HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THAT IF YOU ARE TAKING ME TO JAIL BEFORE IVE HAD TIME TO LEAVE THE FUCKING PARKING LOT?! (minus the fucking part). Cop shrugs shoulders.
I think asking the cop what you should have done tells him you weren't going to take it the police station.

I was given no paper work relating immediately to my case from the jail or anyone else...mainly just the public defender info and some other non-essential papers (like stuff about mail, purchase info for store items, etc.)

As far as anything else about the story...nothing really...reason I went out to the truck was because I was already too tired to go but you know how women are when they want their way...so I basically was just taking her up there...walked around for a bit, said fuck it, told her to hurry up and that I'd be outside. SERIOUSLY nothing I did was due to anything about the phone...I really didn't see anything wrong with what I was doing...if I did think something bad could happen I would've just turned it in to lost and found...but didn't cause I know how people (employees) can be about that kinda stuff. Trusted Sprint more with finding the owner/returning it. When I lost my cell about a year ago the person returned it to Metro PCS...I figured I'd do the same thing.

I'm assuming this is you?

Yep.

One of those posts was from July this year where you said:

That shit was in the past...hence me say "Ive stolen a bunch of shit"...I have...stolen...past tense...when I used to be a broke mofo...I just trade shit or buy used now :p

Plus, I'm sure WE ALL have done shit in the past we wish we hadn't or could take back...my previous shoplifting exploits in no way reflect who or what I am...if a drug addict gets clean and stays clean for a decade is that person still a scum bag? To me not at all...but everyone has their own views on that shit...no ones right no ones wrong...

I think asking the cop what you should have done tells him you weren't going to take it the police station.

I explained to the police my intentions of turning the phone into Sprint...told them I didn't feel safe leaving it to some unknown at Wal-mart...I'd like it if someone did the same for me...as they have when I lost my phone about a year ago, they turned it into Metro PCS. As far as asking what I should have done...turning into the police never crossed my mind honestly...my mistake I guess...not meant at all as a "I'm guilty tote me to jail" confession or anything.

Don't........... do not............ present tense.

Right...I DON'T feel bad about it NOW...that doesn't mean I still do it.

My step-dad is 5 years clean from being a alcoholic...that doesn't mean he finds stuff like beer (that I do now) wrong now that he's clean...so no I don't feel bad or guilty...doesn't mean I still do it/agree with it. Whats done is done...whats in the past is in the past. Done deal.

However...please continue to insult me as you are...some people like yourself apparently have nothing better to do...I understand...I used to be single and had no life as well...I don't necessarily hold it against you...its just a pompous jackass thing to do...but you don't seem to understand this. You WILL make it far in life, I promise.

Yeah because you're a model for "making it far" in life, right? At Walmart after midnight because you're girlfriends welfare check cleared that night, stealing a phone, spending a week in jail (allegedly), having a history of theft which you still don't regret. You sound like a real winner.

Again...didnt feel safe turning into to somewhere that it could be stolen again.
So, after you saw the phone, you actually considered turning it into the store's Lost & Found, but decided that it might get stolen again, and it was safer in your car?

Her work check...lots of places do this now...look it up. There that late cause she was off the next day...so the fuck what? You're up wayyy past midnight insulting me here here...so whats the difference?

Didn't steal a phone...FOUND a phone...not like I jumped the woman and took it...I didn't even know she was there!

Spending a week in jail? I've proven this above...read.

History of theft that I don't regret? Damn right...have I learned that its WRONG? YES! Do I feel BAD about it? No. Why exactly should I? I can't change any of it now...

If i were the mods... i'd suspend your Stolen Blu-Ray DVD sale... considering your history of theft... Anandtech could be putting themselves in a legal liability by fostering the sale of stolen property.

If i were anyone on this site considering buying the items listed.. i'd be wary of possession of stolen property.

Haha, come on man. Try harder than that. I applaud your efforts but I can see right through.

Exactly...why wouldn't it be safe in my car? I WAS in it.

Dude, if you've worked retail like this you'd know to never trust lost and found...I had a manager when I worked at K-mart get FIRED because he was reported to the higher ups for stealing lost property that was turned in. I had no reason to trust Lost and Found...plus, would turning it into Sprint NOT ultimately be the best thing to do anyways? They'd have ALL her info...address, name, other peoples numbers that are possibly on her bill/plan, etc...seemed to me like the most rational and intelligent thing to do...am I wrong?

What effort? I'm serious..

Given The OP's own confession..

Besides that Ive stolen a bunch of shit...dont really feel guilty for any of it as its always been shit from multi-billion dollar stores and shit like Walmart and what not.

And the fact he's trying to offload ALOT of blu-ray DVD's... does give cause for concern.

I think we now know why the OP spent a week in jail..
He probably has an arrest record... and when the cops came and ran his info they saw a rap sheet, and booked him as a multiple offender.

Do a background check on me...my record is SPOTLESS...no tickets, no arrests...no NOTHING. This won't even make it on my record.

Cops were actually shocked about this...they even questioned me about it...I guess its really that rare that people have clean records?

Plus, if you knew anything, they wouldn't/couldn't "hold" me for a week based on my previous record if anything existed...I was in that long due to lack of funds to make bail.
