I like that he's now edited out that post in FS/FT.

Yeah I did, I sold some of them locally and didnt feel like editing everything...plus, I wasn't getting any worth while bites anyways...the post about my FS/FT list actually was what reminded me about it.

Now that I have a job I no longer need to sell them for car funds...so no reason to sell them!

Thanks though.

LOL how old are you? I ask because it's obvious that you're scurrying around trying to manipulate your image, when if you had any perspective, you'd realize that nobody gives a damn. We'll laugh at you, but that doesn't mean you're important.

Teenagers are completely absorbed with manipulating image. Adults just manage it.

Oh I only replied just because its a forums and people talk to one another and what not. I have no reason to manipulate my image, just correcting peoples mistakes and conceptions.

Bills were due (cell and cable) as well as her needing money to live on for the week...so sadly, yes, it did take that long :(

That was all more important than getting you out of jail?

Sorry, but regardless of the validity of your arrest, at the least you should be looking at your personal situation and making some serious changes.

He could start by stop doing drugs, stop stealing shit, getting a job, and all around avoiding jail.

Didn't realize smoking some weed every now and then was that bad...hell, I haven't smoked in nearly a month...I don't steal shit anymore as Ive made this perfectly clear in previous posts...I GOT A JOB...and this was my first time going to jail.

Anything else to say or can we get back on topic?

If you have a job, why does it take a week to raise $150? Not to mention why are you arguing on the internet at 5 AM on a work night? And personally I would think that any continued illicit activities have a direct correspondence with any jail time that you have suffered.

Most places do lab work on people arrested before being placed in jail to prevent disease spreading. It also shows drugs usage which will not look good if you try to argue you are an upstanding citizen.

Nope...no testing done...plus if I was tested nothing would have shown up anyways...I hadn't smoked in weeks and even what I did smoke wasn't that much.

Well look on the bright side at least it was not murder or rape or something. Think about those dudes wrongly accused and served life and death.

Wait, so she SAW you take the cell phone and walk out? I'm assuming so since they came right up to your car?

Or did they have you on camera?

I might have done the same thing as the OP. Turning in a cellphone to a store's lost & found could be risky for the phone owner, given that anyone with access to the office could run up a huge bill very easily. I think I would have taken it home and looked through the contacts to try to return it the next day.

To actually be arrested for that is... I don't think "astounding" is overstating it.

At that point.. you shoulda taken it to Lost & Found at Walmart... turned it in.. and be done with it.

this, as that is the most likely place someone would look first

not that i disagree with the stupidity of being locked up over it...but still

After reading this thread, I felt the need to post just so I can claim to be a small part of this epic adventure.

So I just spent a week in jail because I found a cell phone in Wal-mart.

Long story short:

- Me and my girl went to Walmart around 1AM to get some snacks (her check gets auto-deposited at midnight on Friday).

- While at Walmart I find a cellphone literally sitting on a shelf.

- I go out to car to smoke a cig cause I was tired and didnt feel like walking around.

- Girl comes up to car 15 minutes later with two police officers next to her...I think "WTF did she do?!"

- Police ask if I found a phone...I say yes and hand it to them...no bullshit on my part.

- Woman whose phone it was was still at Walmart and presses charges against me...police gave me no time to talk to her.

- I get arrested and taken to jail for 8 days for "theft by finding lost property"

Now let me say that I had every intention of turning the phone into Sprint the next day. When in the back of the cop car I asked the cop what I SHOULD have done...he tells me I should have brought it to the police station...I ask HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THAT IF YOU ARE TAKING ME TO JAIL BEFORE IVE HAD TIME TO LEAVE THE FUCKING PARKING LOT?! (minus the fucking part). Cop shrugs shoulders.

Am I the only one that sees something seriously wrong with this? I feel like these cops need to be punished or something...MORE THAN A WEEK IN COUNTY JAIL CAUSE I FOUND A LOST CELL PHONE...WTF?!?!?!
This is so simple.

The average law abiding citizen would've turned it into walmart right then and there so they could announce on their PA that the phone was found in the hopes the owner is still there or comes back to get it OR just left it there for someone else to worry about.

I would never had taken it out of the store. You did, and that means you more than likely intended to steal it.

If you're so hard up for money that you'd sit in jail for over a week despite being innocent, then yeah, I think you should probably stop smoking weed, and cigarettes.

The fact that your girlfriend didn't bail your ass out also is pretty telling.

This. By leaving you looked like you were stealing. Still seems like there's something missing though.

Definitely, if you found a lost phone, go and have them announce it on the intercom.
