I spent $210.53 on dinner for 2

My wife and I normally go for a fine dinning on our anniversary etc.
One time we dropped like $250 on our meal.
Within 10mins of getting home I puked my half up. Shitty.

Yep, I would have tipped more myself, but I agree about the bitching. I bet most of the people complaining are the same ones that complain about factory workers making $20 an hour. The waiter most likely had more than one table, and is probably making around $100 an hour - to bring food to a table. Where's the outrage? LOL. 🙂

At a nice restaurant (haven't been to the one in the OP), a waiter will typically have 3 tables and 2 seatings per night. That's $180 in tips for an 8 hour shift assuming everyone leaves $30 (15&#37😉 as the OP did.

You'd think all the millionares on ATOT would splurge once in a while and not take their girlfriends/wives to Applebee's once a month to shut em up.

I also like the fact that you went to a fine dining establishment and were taking pictures of your food.
🙂
Stay classy San Diego!

Well that's the answer then, the OP must work at that restaurant.

So you guys who won't buy more than $40 on some kmart jeans are complaining about my tip? Its $180.53 after 9.75% tax. I left a flat $30 for tip.

and no I'm not rich. If I was id be coming every week with my own personal wine bottle on their wall. Its called having a job. I didnt buy my weekly pair of sevens for this dinner. =D

Who gives a shit how much you spent on dinner? You obviously were thinking about posting this worthless crap while you were on a date with your girlfriend. "Oooo, I'm going to post this pic of my food on ATOT when I get home." 🙄 How pathetic.

This Facebook generation is absolutely retarded.

So you spent 18% on the best service you've ever had. I don't even want to know what you normally tip and a regular restaurant or diner with average service.

.

I don't know what restaurants you've been too, but I was making more than that in the late 80's. I know waiters here in my town that can pull down $1000 in an 8 hour shift - most only work 4 or 5 hours though.

Ignore people like Dave. He defines rich as anyone making a penny more than him and tries to belittle everyone to hide his own failures.

Seriously people, you guys think spending $200 on a meal once every few months is "ridiculous"?

I was pointing out how little it was. Sorry that it wasn't obvious, though if anyone should have realized it, it should have been a former waiter.

$30 is more than enough. This thread demonstrates the problem of tying the size of the tip to the size of the check. Really great service at a dive deserves a smaller tip just because the food was cheap? Doesn't make any sense. The size of the tip should be based on the service, period.

^ Raise your hand if you've never been to a nice restaurant. 🙄

As I already stated, in order to provide you with excellent service, a waiter at a nice restaurant will only have a few tables with a couple of seatings each night.

Stay classy ATOT.

Why would you tip on tax? As I said, and he confirmed, the tip is above 20% if you count the actual cost of service and the meal.
