Last September she pretended to be him and tried to make it look like our friend attempted suicide. She then contacted us as herself and screamed that it was all our fault. 🙄

That's partly why I have stayed the hell away for the last 5 months.

I just noticed that I didn't even mention something BIG: When she impersonated him earlier today, he was on the phone telling us that she had just torn up their last $300 and flushed it.

Crazy is an understatement.

He actually did ask us to come get him after it all blew up, but we were already on our way home and that would only validate her imagined scenario that we showed up on Valentine's and interrupted by encouraging him to leave. She might even escalate to imagining that we didn't take "no" for an answer and forced him to come. 🙄 I told him to send me his location and I would come back if she kicked him out.

Keep in mind: Our ONLY contact before this blew up was the call we made at 12:11PM, several hours earlier. We made no further attempts to contact either of them and yet hours later she is texting that crap, tearing/flushing money, and he starts begging us to come get him. ALL of it was from a little wake-up call with absolutely no further interaction with us.

I guess I should have known better than to call a friend at 12:11PM on a Saturday to let him know I was nearby. 🙄

Those people are crazy. Screw them. Who cares if it's valentines day. You just called them. It's not like you walked in on them having sex or something.
 
It sounds like to me marriages where one of the spouses takes a holiday event a little too seriously and the other has a blase attitude towards it leads to major trouble... especially if the person who takes the holiday seriously takes themselves too seriously as well.

All the successful marriages I've seen, neither spouse takes themselves too seriously and isn't terribly offended if nothing is done on such holidays such as Valentines day, Birthdays, etc.
 
If you were a real friend, you'd be hiding assets for him, so when he gets the fuck out, he'll have a nest egg she doesn't know about. Your friend should get a "crack habit" so he can justify the missing money come court time.
