This thread is going places.

Not famous
Christian
Fat acceptance.

I think we need to get a 2nd amendment thing going and maybe a bit of trident and we might have an all encompassing thread.

There are worse things in life than being heavy. For examples, being malicious, being mean-spirited, being intolerant, being cruel, etc...

Yeah, and those are things you can control...along with your weight. It's not as though she's ugly...or famous.

God, I hate American Idol. What a complete and utter waste of time...way worse than this place. :p

She's recorded five albums that have recieved critical acclaim, she's been nominated for a Grammy, she has made appearances on “TODAY,” “Live with Regis & Kelly,” “CBS Early Show,” “Fox & Friends,” “Extra,” “TV Guide Channel,” “E! News Radio” “Huckabee” and “Associated Press TV.”

That makes her famous to me.

Idol judge Simon Cowell made several comments about Mandisa's weight during her audition. When he first saw her, he quipped are we "going to have a bigger stage this year.[3] Later, when Paula Abdul commented that Mandisa had a "Frenchie" growl to her voice, Cowell responded that a more apt comparison would be to France itself.[3] These were among comments that drew the ire of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, and would be one of the reasons Mandisa would entitle her 2007 album True Beauty.
When Mandisa presented herself to the judges prior to the final cut-down to the season's 24 semi-finalists, she told Cowell: "what I want to say to you is that, yes, you hurt me and I cried and it was painful, it really was. But I want you to know that I've forgiven you and that you don't need someone to apologize in order to forgive somebody. I figure that if Jesus could die so that all of my wrongs could be forgiven, I can certainly extend that same grace to you.[4] Cowell told Mandisa that he was "humbled" and apologized to her immediately.[5]

Instead of starting an organization to advance fat acceptance why don't they just work on dieting to lose the weight? Christ, I'm a bit overweight myself but there is no fucking way I'd ever support an organization like that. Yeah, I'm fat and I'm proud? FUCK THAT!!! I'm fat and I'm fucking ashamed of it and I'm going to do something about it!

I watch and listen to exactly NONE of those shows nor have I ever heard any of her music.

Has she been on the Howard Stern Show?

She's acknowldged that she has a food addiction is working on overcoming it. What else would you like from her?

“My struggle with weight has been the biggest struggle of my life and it began as a very young girl,” she says. “There were certain things that happened to me as a child, just different situations of abuse that I talk about pretty freely and pretty openly but as a result of that abuse I started to turn to food to feel comfort and to fill that void that was left as a child and what I have learned is that the only thing that will satisfy me and the only thing that will truly give me comfort is the Comforter and He is the only one that can fill that void. And so one day at a time I have been set free or I am being set free from what I call is a food addiction. I believe that you can be addicted to alcohol and drugs and for me I believe that I have been addicted to food for several years. And so it’s been a journey, it’s been a very difficult journey, but it’s a journey that I’m overcoming one day at a time. As I speak, we are about 2 months away from this record releasing, and I have lost 60 pounds. Again, it’s going to be a lifelong journey for me but as long as one day at a time I am getting closer and closer to being set free that’s all that I can ask for and I believe that that’s happening.”

I'm not being mean spirited. I am merely pointing out that you eluded to the fact that she is fat by saying she has a pretty face. I don't care if she is heavy I just checked to see if I was right. You are the one that said she if fat in a round about way, maybe you should think about that.

I wouldn't like anything from her...nor do I care at all about her.

Really, why do you give two shits about what any of us think of this somewhat kinda famous person nobody has ever heard of anyway?

I think that you read a little too much into my comment. She has a pretty face that radiates her inner goodness.

and this is where I stopped reading

sersoiusly? The entire fucking concept is inhuman, and completely defies nationwide attempts to get people to fucking live healthy, and stop strangling our fucking healthcare costs.

I may sound too much like BBYT here, but fatties neeed to learn to lose weight, and not try and convince other people to accept them for their (mostly) unhealthy life choices. Motherfuck the AAFA, or whatever they call themselves.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that. Really an organization saying its ok to be unhealthy and that people should accept them for being fat?

To the best of my knowledge, she has no association with this organization. The just came to her defense when she was demeaned on TV.

I'm not trying to convert you to anything. You said that you've never heard her music so I gave you a few examples. You can believe whatever you want.

Did you have a rough day?

I've been on ATOT for years, allow me to explain where this thread went wrong in the eyes of 95% of ATOT.

1. She's a Christian singer
2. She's overweight
3. She's black

You couldn't have picked a person worse than this. I'm not sure the order of worse to even more worse, but all the points I brought up will have people telling you to GTFO.

No offense but why didn't you say "she is hot" or "she is beautiful"? The simple answer is the fact that she is overweight bothers you more than you are willing to admit. It may even be subconscious, who knows? Maybe you don't want anyone else to think you like fat chicks. Don't take it the wrong way. This is something I have noticed my whole life and many many people do it.

Seems that way, every time a thread about a murder or robbery comes up there's the "gee I wonder what race the person is" most recently was the dude who wanted to bet people that the chick who pissed off the Jet Blue flight attendant was a black woman. Even thought it was a man. 95% might have been an exaggeration on the black part, but the other 2 points it's definitely close.
