I thought you were talking about me. A sigh of relief. I make sure I walked up and down 5 floors every day but I am not getting any thinner. I wish the solution is that simple.

We only have 4 floors, and I'm up and down the stairs all day with printers, toner cartridges, computers, and the worst is 22" monitors :Q

It's only because I'm scared of our elevator though. The building is 28yrs old, and about once a week maintenance has to rescue someone from the elevator. It's always the same people going to smoke and/or eat!! That many stairs a day will keep you in decent shape if you're not used to having ANY physical activity.

Our 364lb Editor could probably stand to make a few trips up and down every day. He's snorting and grunting just walking from his office to the elevator though. It's disghusting. His desk drawer is full of little debbie snack cakes. He admits to a pack and a half at work, and his wife says he usually fills his pipe about 3 times in the evening. He should be the poster child for the American Heart Association!! By the way he's actually lost 25lbs in the last year!!

Then what exactly is conducive to making you lose weight?

I still like the suggestion a member made awhile back about putting weight scales into fast food places that show your weight in bright flashing numbers above you.

I guess that would work if they made you stand on it to place your order.

Here's my theory you whiny, under-motivated, I-need-other-people-to-tell-me-im-a-fatass-so-lose-weight piece of sh@t.

That is going to get you a two week vacation

Everyone always walks around fat people and refuse to mention the fact that they take up twice as much space as everyone else because its "not polite." Then, they turn around and giggle or make some joke.

Consequently, the fat people do one of two things:

Begin to beleive that maybe they really aren't so fat
Think its not a big deal because no one says anything.

Solution: Make it a point to rip on those fat asses in your life. Make jokes, laugh, and point fingers. That way, they will become motivated to get their jelly-roll butts offhte couch and onto a tread mill. What right do they have to eat three times as much, take up more of our resources, and then whine to us that its not their fault while children in ethiopia are so malnourished?

Obviously, none of this applies to those that really do have a genetic weight problem.

My, thats a good one!

Instead of trying to insult me, how about you spend more than 30 seconds responding and actually come up with an alternative. I realize that thinking is hard and that you probably don't get out much judging from your 20+ posts per day, so I'll forgive your ignorance concerning the motivation of people as i understand how hard it is to interact with society when walled up in Mommy's basement eating fruit roll-ups and drinking Dew. Just don't waste my time by posting when you have to meet your daily quota and don't have anything else to say.

Bottom line is this. Eat less, excersice more, and take a little fvcking pride in how you look. You come up with a better way to get people to do that, and I'll respect you. Until then, refrain from trolling.

My question was highly relevant. Obesity is often tied to depression. Depression is tied to isolation and a feeling one does not "fit in." Ridiculing an obese person will only make matters WORSE, not better. They will further isolate themselves and become more depressed. You might as well just shoot them with your attitude, because you sure as hell aren't helping them.

BTW, I'm 36. I own my own business. My mother doesn't have a basement and she lives 2000+ miles away. I've never eaten a fruit roll-up in my life, nor do I drink "Dew."

I'm 6', 198 lbs and less than 15% body fat. I lift and do 40-50 minutes of cardio 4 days a week... I take a hell of a lot of pride in how I look and feel.

You're more than welcome to come to Gold's Gym in Champaign, IL and see how much pride I take in myself.

Maybe if you actually LEARNED a thing or two about what you're talking about, you wouldn't make such bone headed assumptions, or have such stupid fscking opinions.

You are 100% correct! One of the big signs of depression is a change in appetite, either gaining or losing weight.Another sign is major sleep difficulty which can also contribute to overweight.Depressed folks often have trouble simply dragging themselves to the shower and performing their normal ADL's.Mocking such people does nothing but hurt them.

I bet thats what you tell your internet girlfriend too. Or boyfriend. Whichever. Anyway, i agree with you that obesity and depression are linked, but there are a significant amount of people that eat for other reasons. 1/5 of america is obese or severely overweight- does that mean everyone is depressed? of course not you moron.

Finally, why didn't you give this argument (which is essentially weak anyway, but at least its an argument) in the first place? What was ridiculing me gonna do? Moron.

Nice. Come to Champaign and see for yourself.

Anyway, i agree with you that obesity and depression are linked, but there are a significant amount of people that eat for other reasons. 1/5 of america is obese or severely overweight- does that mean everyone is depressed? of course not you moron.

A signifigant majority of obese people suffer from some form of depression. And I did not say the depession caused the obesity in all cases. In many cases, the obesity causes depession, and the resulting depression causes a cycle of more obesity and deeper depression. I highly doubt you are qualified to determine who is, or isn't suffering from depression. So, again, ridicule is the WRONG answer.

Finally, why didn't you give this argument (which is essentially weak anyway, but at least its an argument) in the first place? What was ridiculing me gonna do? Moron.

For someone who is upset at being insulted, you sure like to throw them out there, don't you?

My argument is sound and based in fact. Your proposal to ridicule fat people is not. It was ignorant and immature.

As I said a long time ago- come up with something better. And I say, why not shoot them? Take all the food they would have eaten and use it where it woul do the most good. Seriously though, I have rarely met a fat peron that is not also lazy and unambitious. And they don't care, either. I worked with one really fat kid for about 6 months, and he was always talking about how it wasn't his fault he was fat, and he didn't care if he was like this for the rest of his life.

He was balancing his checkbook one day and sure enough, the last 20 (yes 20) entries were for McDonald's. And he doesn't know why he's fat? Gimme a break. And while we are bragging here, I am 5'11'', 150 lbs, and less than 5% body fat. Come to St. Cloud, MN if you want to tango. I have no doubts I'd have any trouble with a 36 year old who spends all his time here.

Getting off the subject here. The ony realistic solution is to raise the emotional place these fat asses are at, and since they have no motivation to do it themselves, we must ridicule them. Yes,it will hurt at first, but once they lose 50 or 100 lbs, they'll realize we were right. And if we lose a couple along the way, so be it. As i said, they were probably lazy anyway.

Finally, it seems to me that you are the only one fighting this suggestion. Could it be because everyone else agrees with me?

Edit: And Geekbabe doesn't count as support. I think we all know why.

These people might be able to lose weight at some point in their lives, but you ugly asses out there are SOL short of signing up for extreme makeover.

Sal

medical condition?? PLEASE. i admit, there are some people that are just destined to be fat, thing they can do to help. but the VAST majority of people are just lazy fvckers who refuse to help themself. the most they will do is try some maricle diet pills and when that doesnt work they at least have the excuse of "i tried". all they need to do is get off their fat ass and go jogging and lift some wieghts.

RANT OVER

and yes, i have a healthy lifestyle. you got nothing on me :p

The real question is, have you ever been overweight and lost the weight? And by overweight, I mean 20lbs or more?

Until you have, do not think to tell others how simple it is.

I lost 20lbs last year. It was simple. I ate less and exercised more. It's only complicated when you make excuses, or pretend to be among the 0.01% of overweight people who got that way from a medical condition. I'm 42, 6', 183lbs.

Yes we do,because I'm going to come down firmly against the notion that self appointed diet czars have some sort of right to humilate and bully other people.Obesity is a sad thing, the enjoyment of tormenting others is even sadder though.

Who ever said anything about enjoying it? What is sad is that you automatically thoght that just because I despise people who are fat for legitimate, medical condition that I enjoy ridiculing them. And the reason I said you don't count is not because you were against me (although that does make it easier). It was because I get the feeling that you are just another 40+, self-rightous, spend-too-much-time-on-the-computer wannabe who reads one article from Dr. Phil and thinks their an expert.

Just because you are older and have more life experience doesn't mean you have the intellectual capacity to understand what you're seeing and come up with a viable solution.

BlackJesus03, I understand your philosophy, you want to motivate them and believe humiliation and abuse can acomplish this, for some people this is indeed so, but with others that technique will have the end result of them going postal on you like Private Pyle in FMJ ;)

What disturbs me about these threads is the overt hostility some exhibit towards obese people. I don't know which is more lamentable, the obese or the egocentric narcissists who rip on them. As to those who keep reiterating over and over, thread after thread about their height, weight, body fat percentage, and training habits, kindly STFU for a change :D I think everyone except someone reading one of these threads for the first time knows your bio's by now given it's a litany recited at any opportunity

So, you despise people who have eaten their way to obesity?

Is this the only personal failing that causes you to despise people or do you despise all people that have any vices?

I am fat and buddy no one ever called me lazy.

So, you despise people who have eaten their way to obesity?

Is this the only personal failing that causes you to despise people or do you despise all people that have any vices?

I am fat and buddy no one ever called me lazy.

Sorry, that was a mistype. What I meant was I hate fat people except for those who have a legit medical condition. And maybe no one calls you lazy cause all you have to do is get too close and your gravitational pull sucks them towards you and then you can sit on them, so everyone keeps their distance. Or maybe, they realize that squishers like you don't care that they're lazy and see no point in even trying. You choose.

No, i don't despise everyone with vices. Only fat people, egotists, pedophiles, etc. Here's some more ammo for ya. I think it would be a great idea to bring back public executions. Pay-per-view that sh@t, and we get rid of the morons, discourage other morons, placate the bloodthirsty masses, and rid ourselves of the national debt, all with one stone.

That was uncalled for.

And BTW, you will be our age one day too. Maybe by then you'll have the maturity to understand why belittling people is not the solution to everything.
