so that when you install an ATI card, you get a sh!t for a computer. after upgrading my video card to an ATI, my computer fails to shutdown properly (immediately after installing the video card). what's more, the comptuer won't boot into windows. my computer attempts to boot to CD (even w/o a freaking CD in the drive) and scans some mac address?!??! wtf. this can't be a problem due to drivers, considering it occurs before ever booting into windows. :|

Actually he's right. ATI cards work fine on the nvidia chipsets...if anything it's your old geforce drivers lingering around screwing everything up.
Theres a few programs out there that will clean all the old drivers out of your system - thats what you need to do.
 
you can turn off network boot in your bios

or you can leave it on

i don't think the video card turned it on, but i wasn't there, so i dunno
 
The shutdown issue was solved by the latest drivers from nVidia for nForce. Try them. I don't think it's related to the graphics card BTW.

Best driver cleaner I've seen is Formula 409. Gets your drivers REALLY clean. 😛
 
I can understand someone's frustration when you're trying to get something to work and it just won't seem to do what you want it to do.... However, odds are that everything works fine, that it's something driver related that's causing the problem. I'm sure if there truly was a problem running ATI cards on nvidia chipset-based mobo's, we'd have heard a lot more about it by now.
