Duh. If you start sliding, you are slowing down less (or providing less friction) then you can without sliding and using the brakes to their fullest potential. What do you think ABS does? It keeps the wheels from locking up, because locking up is bad.
Then, you turned the wheel, which actually makes it worse. You put all the tread on the tires facing a different direction than the best direction for stopping.
If you would have taken your foot off the brake entirely, and turned the wheel back closer to straight you would have been able to recover. Or at least steer away from the obstacle.
Unfortunately, there is not a ticket for 'this guy doesn't know how to drive and should never have gotten a license', the closest one is 'driving too fast for conditions. No matter how you look at this, it is 100% your fault. Well, unless you want to blame God, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Storm from X-Men or whoever you feel like blaming for the weather.
I didn't look at the damage, so I can't tell if you were going 10 or 100, but assuming you were going 10, I can summarize this entire thread in 2 sentences.
You don't know how to drive in the snow.
You were going too fast for conditions.
