Question is, why would you care if it is scratched? My Razr is scratched from normal use, my watch face has one or two scratches, etc. I just polish them from time to time with a compound and they are as good as new.

My Nano has a couple of hairline scratches already. Big deal.

I got my nano for use at the gym, so I don't care if it gets a little scratched here and there as long as it still works. I'd be kind of upset if it got a huge gouge down the middle of the screen, but a scratch here or there on the back doesnt bother me at all.

And you do not need iTunes to sync with it, I use ml_pod and it works great. Don't know about the pictures though.

I got an IPOD for two reason. One, I'm going on a trip and do not have a MP3 player, and two IPODs intergrate with my new car, so you plug it in in the glovebox, and then control it through the steering wheel or navigation system. If it gets scratched then I don't care. Most of the time it is going to be sitting in the glovebox or in my pocket, so not a big deal.

I sort of wish I'd bought a 60gb one instead -- I could put every song I have on it and never have to worry. I could only find the 2GB Nano, so I've only got about 400 songs on it -- still plenty, and without the hassle of burning CDs. I can switch another 400 songs over there in the time it takes to burn a CD, but a CD doesn't integrate, easily can get damaged, or you have the problem of lugging around 50 CDs.

I'm using it with my Shure E2C earbuds, never understood the people who pay $200-300 on a music player to use the cheap $1 earbuds that come with the player. Dumbasses.

you must realize that more people here like hot deals than expensive deals. good earbuds come at a cost. further, the shure e2cs are $65 (cheapest i know of) which is pretty expensive in comparison to the player itself. think about the e5cs... buying earbuds that are more expensive than a player is almost crazy.

people shouldn't complain if they get cheap $1 earbuds, but good headphones/buds are not cheap. saving up for a player may be a significant fraction of someone's paycheck and they may have other costs to worry about than purchasing earbuds since it's merely an accessory, not the main item.

that said, i think apple should make better earbuds and include them in the package. :p

oh, and i don't use apple earbuds either. ;)

Can you go through albums easily using that? Like, are there song navigation features trhat aid going through your music?

Unsure, really. I assume so, but the information I have is limited to what is on the website.

IPOD integration.

Edit: Doing a little research on Google I found this:

"The car's in-dash display will show all the songs, artists and playlists on the iPod, allowing drivers to scroll through them with their steering wheel or stereo controls."

So basically, the COMMAND navigation system will act like an Ipod display, and you scroll through it with the buttons on the steering wheel.

I can't wait for mine to arrive, I just ordered it today. I like the idea of the headphones that are a lanyard. I don't really know what I'll do with it at the gym though. I don't want to get one of those retarded arm strap things.

the arm strap looks better than the lanyard imo :)

Despite what people here think, I actually don't care if it gets scratched. I just don't want it to be so easily scratchable that it'll look like it's been through rough sandpaper after a few months.

I returned it already and got a full refund. The scratches on there were really fine so you can't see it unless you shined it under a light at an angle. No, I'm not bothered by those scratches, but I'm bothered by the fact that I got those scratches just by rubbing my ipod on the cloth of my jeans to clean them.

Apparently Cnet was bothered by it too
Along with hundreds of other people

You guys can talk all the crap you want, but I'm not alone on my side. Amazing how people here could get so worked up over something so small.

Eh its a known fact that iPods get scratched easily. I had my Black Nano in one of those grey iPod Socks (yes i know... but my sister hooked me up for free) ever since I opened the box. So far there are only a couple hair line scratches on the back. Finger print smudges are almost non existant. I mainly keep it in my cellphone/wallet pocket. So far so good :)

Just deal with it, it's a matter of life.

I probably wouldn't care if I didn't get it for viewing pictures :)

you mean the opposite? All the apple consumers pretty much said it doesn't matter to them, whereas the person who doesn't like apple is now concerned with a few scratches

So who's the person concerned with a few scratches? :)

I'm sure it is a known fact by the people who've used one, or actively reads about them. :)

You still got scratches in a sock? I guess I won't be ordering those then.

Yea I still get scratches with them. However, its a whole lot better than shoving a naked iPod into your pocket with other crap in it :)
