Anyone else notice we haven't heard from the OP in a while on this? Maybe his dad got revenge for him snitching to his mom...

If he feels the need to hit his father, or anyone else to "let out the anger" on their father, than there is a simple solution: get the fvck out of HIS house and make your own way in the world, like every other grown-up. Its not a 20-year-old child's place to tell his parents how to live in THEIR home.

Half the posters here are acting like their parents aren't actually "people". Sorry, but welcome to the adult world; its not the fairytale Candyland you thought it was. Maybe Mom cheated first, doesn't like sex anymore, is cold, controllling, and passionless, or maybe Dad just stayed with her until the kids grew up (which has obviously taken longer than it should have). A dinner plate means exactly sh*t if either spouse is unhappy in every other aspect of the marriage.

The only "adult" thing you (the child) can do about a situation like this is to be careful who YOU marry and/or have kids with!

Are you effing retarded. I am 21 and if my dad EVER touched my mom it would mean his ass on the floor...

I'll remember you said that when YOUR self-righteous ingrate son beats your ass in your own home.

And what if your mom hits your dad with a hammer? Will you "smite" her, as well?

I REALLY hope that you're not from my neck of the woods. Unfortunately, this has all the markings of a northeast Tennessee relationship.

Wow, interesting thread! :Q Updates?

I read the whole thread (yes, I'm bored :p). Nobody asked:

RE: "My dad tried to cheat before" - wtf does that mean, exactly? "Tried to cheat?" as in "Couldn't get an erection?" "Couldn't get a date?" "Said he was gonna cheat?" More detail needed there.

This wasn't answered: What were he and the woman doing at B&N? Kissing? Talking? Has he ever been seen w/this woman before?

The OP sounds like a real (insert slang word starting with "p" for cat here), a whiny little momma's boy. Regardless of the state of their relationship (physical abuse aside), it's THEIR relationship, Dr. Phil. Butt out.

Quite possibly, Mom is a psycho and hasn't given dad any affection in a very long time. Quite possibly, Dad's just bored and wanted something new. Either way, it sounds like divorce city. I hope they both find happiness. You will be on Maury Povich in a year. Whiner.

I found out a lot of things that happened in my childhood. I knew stuff was happening but I didnt know exactly what was going on. I remember living in STL and my dad was gone for like 2 months. It turns out my father had left us and came back and moved us to NH. I knew when we moved to NH we moved into the apartment my dad was living in and there was woman living with us for a while. When I was young I didnt know why she lived with us. turns out it was one of the women my dad was having an affair with. I found out that when I was an infant my dad would take me with him on his dates when my mom was at work cuz he couldnt find anyone to babysit me.

I remember one night with I was like 12 years old, my dad was throwing my mothers belongings down the stairs and trying to kick my mom out and take us with her. He wanted us to move back to STL with my Grandparents so he can go on with his affairs. I used to catch my dad watching porn all the time. I would walk in the room and he would turn off the monitor and I would just storm out the room.

When my dad had originally left us in STL that is when my Mom had turned to Christ. The Lord kept her strong and guided us through these tough times. When I was 15 years old I started playing the drums for my church's worship team. my senior year of HS in 2004 I was able to get my Dad to join the worship team because we were short a bassist. It was my hope that the Lord would change him by letting him hear the word. He start pretending like we was cleaning up his act. Turns out the only reason why we wanted to come to church was to try picking up single women at my church.

Growing up I knew the things I witnessed were strange but I was too young to know exactly what was going on. To you people who think I that I am blowing this way out of proportion....you have to live the life I lived to understand. I am just so angry right now.

Sounds like the 20 year man should start acting like one, but he's going to hang onto his Jesus stick, swinging blindly into night.....

If you can't see that your parents should be apart by now, you're blind. There is something VERY wrong with their marriage and "The Lord" isn't going to fix it.

Well, Daddy will pay the bills, the Lord won't - so we can't kick Daddy to the curb, even if in the long run is the best thing for all concerned....

sounds to me like yoiu wish your dad a lot of ill will. while it's not a good thing to maintain a secret from your mom like this; it's far worse to inform her on the spot, without getting definitive proof of what's going on. it seems like he is cheating with this woman, but still...instigating the public confrontation was a bad deal for all of you. especially if you live in a small town.

i've gone through thsi before--although my parents never involved us in any heated "discussion," and it will get better. best thing for you is to stay out of it. this is between them, and honestly has absoluely nothing to do with you. chances are, you will learn that your parents are very different people from who you imagined they are before this.
good luck with it

I didn't read hardly any of this thread but if the OP is over 16 y.o. he needs to STFU, he sounds like a whiney little biatch. Oh your parents are having problems and getting a divorce? WELCOME TO THE FCKING CLUB.

You didn't have a fairy-tale hollywood childhood??? WELCOME TO THE FCKING CLUB.

stfu, douche. not everyone can deal with what others have dealt with. instead of being a huge fvcking tool, you should offer the guy some advice from your own personal experiences.

sucks, dude. sorry to hear about that. hopefully, you've got your mom and a network of friends to keep you grounded and not turn into someone like your dad in the future.
