My dad is NEVER happy with ANYTHING. I jsut got in a rgument for 15 minutes with him -here's why:

I TOOK OUT THE GARBAGE.

He's pissed cause I didn't wait until he emptied the trash in garage, and now he has to carry a waste basket TO THE FRICKING CURB!

Know what happens if I wait till he takes the stuff in the garage out before I take the garbage cans to the curb? HE BITCHES THAT I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT OUT EARLIER!

Now I'm a selfish sociopath, cause I TOOK OUT THE FRICKING TRASH!!


This isn't isolated to the trash either - almost EVERY interaction with my father is like this......


6 more weeks, just 6 more weeks and I'm not living here anymore...
 
it's his house... sometimes it's worth doing what parents say to avoid arguments... if not b/c you love them.
 
thats nothing to hate him for. id probably be better to reword it to 'im mad at my dad' or something

if thats the only thing you "hate" him for then you're pretty retarded.
 
my dad is the same. sometimes they just act that way...but don't take things like this too personally. let them fade and your relationship with your dad will get much better. when you are gone, you will probably even miss him for stuff like this 😉

6 weeks, lucky you. i still have a year and a half 😛 and my dad's the same way, i just tune him out when he starts his bitching
 
just make up something to confuse him. tell him you're gay and you want to move in with your boyfriend, that'll shut him up.
 
man, if i would have talked back to my dad, my license would have been pulled for a month. whats wrong with taking the extra 5 mins to take one more trip to the curb???

Yeah, come on. This is your dad. You will know this man your whole life. Plus, he has put a roof over head and given you a place to live. In twenty years you'll feel differently.

I suggest honestly sitting down with him and telling him that you'd like to be friends. Try and find something you have in common and become friends. If you can be friends, then he wont be yelling at you all the time. If you can pal around and make sarcastic remarks, then you'll get along better. But, if you just get furious at him everytime he talks, then he's just getting furious at you right back. It will continue this way.

I know it may be hard to talk to the guy, but it's worth it if you can be friends. Remember, he's a person, too. I'll bet he has some crazy stories and life experiences that you would find real interesting. Remember, he was 18, 19, or 20 at some point and probably doing the same things you are doing. He was probably fighting with his dad over stupid things like this.

Try and be friends. I wish I had done that earlier instead of bitching and wishing I could leave. If you become friends, I'll bet he can really help you out more in life.

But, then again, he could be a total rat bastard...but it's worth a shot.

Seriously, sorry to hear about things with your Dad. I'm sure you mean you hate the things your Dad does sometimes, and not that you hate him personally. Isn't it great that you have ATOT to vent your frustrations? 🙂
 
If your Father was beating the sh*t out of you, I would understand your feelings. If it is only argueing, get over it. My Father didn't even allow that. He just beat the crap out of me and told me to shut the f*ck up. It is his house and his rules. Why didn't you empty the grarage trash while you were at it?
 
Seriously though man, too much time spent around anyone can drive you nuts. That's how best friends in high school go and be roommates at college and hate each other by the time they graduate.
