it was a WIDE OPEN FREEWAY, there was NO ONE ON THE ROAD BESIDES US TWO, i would never race on public road if there was traffic.

Only up until the 1992 model year. More recent versions of the plain C4 had up to 330 hp. Some C4's (ZR-1) had up to 405 hp.

They'd spank you since in addition to having at least as much HP as you, they have a ton more torque. While your peak HP will be almost as high, their powerband will be much more even and will put out more HP on average. Remember, your engine isn't at its peak HP all the time; most of the time it's struggling to reach the higher RPMs.

because the freeway i was on is a 30 minute drive from my house and im not gonna drive out there just for that, and besides i doubt it would be empty now.... and i dont wanna get pulled over doubling the speed limit....

You don't have 250hp. With no backpressure on the exhaust and a homemade intake, you might still make 220hp, but even that's doubtful.

Backpressure is a good thing, it produces torque. Your stock intake, it produces the resonance and turbulance required for a good fuel mix.

Your home depot intake? No physics or engineering went into the design at all. There's a lot of fluid dynamics involved in designing an efficient intake, and note efficient doesn't always mean completely free flowing.

Furthermore, with a straight pipe behind the rear axle, I hope you at least made the pipe small enough in diameter to make up for your lack in back pressure. I don't understand how all these people go into modifying a car without first getting a basic understanding of how they work first. This is hardly acceptable for a 16 year old kid in high school with his first hand me down from mommy civic. Coming from a grown man that likes to rice his ride and make it even slower is just... I leave that to you. Just know, the correct amounts of backpressure creates the scavenging effect from exhaust pulses and makes torque.

You might be making 215horsepower and 158 torque from your original 220/163 IF you're lucky.

I have no idea where you got 250 from, with a NA engine, you'll never make +30hp with even the best designed exhaust and intake. Maybe +5. +30 would require new cams, new headers, overhauled cat back, a high flow cat, a good intake, and probably head work and a retune.

there is replacement for a displacement, it's called forced induction.... my car is natually aspirated... but i've had turbo cars before...
