In the line behind me I heard one of the poll workers tell someone they couldn't wear something on the site.

I also noticed we had new voting machines. The voting machines were Election Systems & Software, Inc (ES&S). I had to show my voter registration and then sign a screen. She gave me a receipt with my info and a blank ballot. Another worker loaded the ballot in machine and my choices were added to the ballot. I then took it to another worker near the exit and she inserted in another machine.

Michigan greatly expanded its early voting and the ease of absentee voting in 2022. My vote is in and this is all way better than the previous system.
Interesting side note: it merely took a constitutional amendment, via initiative petition in 2022, for this to happen.

As Republicans held at least one of the branches of government up until that same 2022 election and they had firmly blocked all pro-voter reforms until voters forced it via initiative petition amendment.

First day of early voting in NJ and NY - lines out the wazoo in all the blue districts around me plus in Manhattan. This is not normal.
Actually I think it is normal. Any sane person who is at least semi-aware of current political news and polls is undergoing a lot of stress right now. Personally once I personally voted my stress level has gone down a lot since I've done my part.

I went and voted last week, took about 20 minutes so wasn't too bad. My vote is kind of wasted since I live in a deep blue state but I always want republicans to lose by as many votes as possible so it's worth it, not to mention all the other things to vote for. T

Like I was saying back on the 17th...

Fires at election drop boxes destroy hundreds of ballots in Washington, Oregon

"Officials in Washington and Oregon are investigating fires set Monday morning in two ballot drop boxes that destroyed hundreds of ballots"

Until this cult has been dealt with don't give them the opportunity to be themselves.

Well I for one hope they catch this asshole and slap their ass in jail for a good long time. Regardless of which party they belong too.

I voted early yesterday when we went at first around 1 pm it was slammed so we left and did some shopping. When we came back we walked right in voted and left. 15 - 20 minutes tops.

What BS. When I was way too young to vote, they used the schools mostly for polling stations. So when I went into school on voting day, there was a cordoned off area near the entrance to where you went into vote. There were signs stating explicitly that no political signs or badges, ect. were allowed within 100 or 50 feet of the voting area. And this was in Virginia.

We changed our plans and did early voting today. HFS!

We have lived here for six years and voted in every election since. My wife and I took our middle daughter and her three year old because it has never taken us longer than 10 minutes to vote before! Not today…

The first clue that this was different were the three clowns in their pick up trucks right at the line of demarcation(where the political advertising has to cease). No long rifles, just pistols in holsters, Trump signs, camo cosplay outfits. Right across the street from there in a SUV were two local cops watching them watch the polls. JFC!

Line to get your ballot started just inside the door and stretched probably 25 deep. They had those blue curtained off cow lines like at the airport… those have never been used at this polling place before.

The rest of the process was pretty straightforward and normal. We marked our ballots, stood in line again to scan them in and get our stickers.

My only comment was anecdotally, 80% of these people were senior citizens! Me and my granddaughter in my wheelchair were more fast and efficient than a shit load of them. LMAO

So I'm walking by the Hartford, CT city hall about noontime today and notice there is a line for early voting at least thirty feet out the door. Based on my knowledge of that building, even if they didn't have the line snaking the line would be at least another 100 feet inside the building. This is in a state where Joe Biden won by more than a 20% margin in 2020. I don't think Trump or Harris has had a rally in this state.

I'm thinking there is going to be an extremely strong D turnout for this election.

That sounds like my experience. 3 sheriff officers standing outside the door and you had to walk past them to get inside. I walked past them and past the metal detector which didn't go off despite having my keys, pocketknife and an artificial heart valve.

Also lots of seniors and people taking way too long to vote. I went straight dem and left some blank when a "republican" was running unopposed. My votes don't count here in this red state so I wanted to send a message.

Mailed in my ballot over a week ago.

Sadly have not been able to get my Mom to vote, despite it having a more significant direct impact on her the older she's gotten.

Voted straight Dem other than the positions with no party affiliations (but checked and voted against the nutjobs running for those positions) and county Sheriff, because it was between a Republican piece of shit and a Republican piece of shit that only ran as a Democrat so they could make the ballot (their defense "I don't think political party matters"). Oh and I think there was one unopposed Republican, I think he might be an incumbent and hasn't been a total shitbag so whatever.

I'm waiting in line tomorrow so I can stand with a bunch of old conservatives and I can listen to them babble. Our employer has actually allowed anyone 2 hours paid time to go vote at the end or the start of their shift for the hourly employees. I'm going to show up when the place opens and wait as long as I have to make sure I don't get busy and forget.

I dropped my ballot off at the town hall a few weeks ago. It would probably be interesting to vote on election day and see how many crazies are out there, but eh.
