I like voting by mail or in drop boxes, but this year our dear leader DeSantis, in his infinite wisdom and neverending Republican zeal for ways to make voting more difficult, changed the rules for vote-by-mail so that you have to keep requesting ballots every election cycle. We currently have the US Postal service investigating Tallahassee mail because delivery citywide is so poor, which makes mailing ballots an issue.

Let's just say I'm more comfortable going to the voting site, filling out the ballot and putting it in the machine where I can watch the counted ballot number increase by 1. That's about the best I can do to ensure my vote counts.

Interesting. You get a choice of places.

Here in NYC we only have specific polling places for people. Mine's been switched around a few times but I can't vote at the wrong one!

You could have requested an early mail ballot.

Yep, easy peazy lemon squeezy. When I lived in Connecticut it was similar to yours, specific polling places for specific addresses.

In my county in FL, you can vote early from Oct 21-Nov 3 at 10 locations throughout the county. Any registered voter can vote at any one of the ten locations with ID. On Nov 5 you would have to vote in your own precinct polling place and there are maybe 200 precincts in Tallahassee.

There and CA.
When we lived on CA, we were always assigned a specific polling place…until one year, ballots in the mail because neither of the two places where we had voted (location changed) were our polling place.
Moved to WA in 2012…mailed in our ballots just before we moved out of CA…so, of course, I voted for every tax/school bond/municipal bond on the ballot. :p

I actually want to vote in person... just because it would be the second time I will be voting in a election. Last time I voted was in the NYS gubernatorial election, also I voted then in person for Hochul.

Do it. In Person. At the first available time.

To be honest.... I would..... but I am not going to take a subway to go to my assigned early voting place. No joke. Im not spending two subway fares just to vote early.
My early voting place is literally 1 stop + transfer + 1stop more.
My election day voting place is literally 5 blocks away walking distance.
Thus I am voting on election day.

I guess if voting early is an inconvenience, you'll probably be ok waiting to vote during the last few hours it's open, on the last day.

I like voting in person especially for such a monumental election. The tactile experience just has a certain experience to it that I will enjoy more than just mailing in a ballot.
I can see that. I dropped my ballot today in an official Dropbox. Do t even trust the mail.

Debating on Election Day for either be a poll watcher or canvas for Harris. I live in PA

I don't have anything to do that day, so I could go when it opens. By the way, in the 2022 election when I went to vote, the line was almost empty. Did not have to wait for long.

Wife and I voted in person earlier today. Our Board of Elections has an interactive map showing how many people in line, which proved pretty accurate by the time we arrived. From pulling up to the site, and leaving, took less than 15 minutes.

Straight "D" with one exception, an unaffiliated candidate for County Chairman.

Living in one of the counties impacted by Hurricane Helene, early voting is running 7 days a week up to and including November 2nd. Helene also prevented a couple of planned early voting sites from opening, for lack of internet or power still.

Dropped my ballot in the mail today. Finally finished up my ballot research last night for the various Massachusetts ballot questions.

When I lived in NYC, voting in person was a quick in and out process, no matter the election type. My voting place was even across the street from my apartment.

What’s your thoughts on minimum wage increase for tipped workers?
I have no idea how to vote on that one. Seems majority of tipped people I know don’t like it for a similar reason the restaurant groups are lobbying against it. Big changes bring uncertainty and I get why a tipped person who is doing well would be concerned just as I am.

I voted for it. I know there are some that grumble and think it will reduce tips, but I say phooey. My thought is that you don't tip differently if you go to another state (which can and do have different tipped wages). I also don't like the idea of different minimum wages. Just have one.

And if it cuts down on wage theft by making a very clear floor for everyone's wages, even better. Plus, it also allows for tip pooling. We know that it isn't just the FOH staff making your dining experience what it is, so why can't those tips be pooled?

For the past 35+ years, I’ve lived in states where tipped workers get the full minimum wage PLUS their tips. Having traveled a lot for work into states where employers pay the “sub-human” $2.13 minimum wage, prices were nearly the same…meaning the employer made more money and the tipped worker got fucked.
