I can't wait to get home and have good steak again. I've been in australia for two months and the beef here is terrible. Iowa beef is simply the best there is...and yes, I've been to Texas.

Cheesesteak. Better take it easy, since you're a virgin.

Do not cook -ANY- steak medium unless you want to ruin it, or if it's a sirloin you will need the jowl muscles of a Hyena to eat it..

get a nice tender cut, medium or medium rare...
the more well done it is, the tougher the meat will be.

prime rib, rib eye, or filet mignon are very juicy and tender
mmmmmmmmm

as for the steakhouse, i would recommend going on yelp.com and searching for a local steakhouse that has acclaim.

LOL @ the "Who eats thier steak the least cooked" contest.

If you eat burgers Well, then you arent going to want to bite the meat straight from cow. Start with a steak that is cooked a little more, then each time you can get it a little more rare if you want.

so start with well done?

Hamburgers are well done... Go medium or medium rare for steaks.

:brokenheart:

Look at the bright point... at least he wouldn't worry about wanting to eat another steak again after that!

Two words, my friend... MEDIUM RARE. Learn it, and live it!

If I were having my first steak evar! I'd go to the best steakhouse I could find, and have a nice aged one.

Go to a steakhouse, and ask your waiter to 'slip you the hot beef injection.'

Trust me, you'll get the best steak imaginable

This.

Outback has decent steaks for a reasonable price. I'd go medium to medium well if this is your first one though (Outback steaks are a bit thick, so they tend to be on the under-done side (medium=medium rare, etc)).

If your steak comes with a free buffet, please don't eat there. :)

For the first get the best. Go for a filet mignon fried in butter, some of it should be rare or closed to it. Later you can go for ribeye, porterhouse, New York strips, etc. But for the first go for a filet mignon.

Later try frying in butter and garlic, that's good too.

Logan's is where I go if I want a ribeye cooked by a restuarant. I think by far its the best ribeye in the reasonable priced steakhouse franchise business.

I've found the outback's by me are usually on the money... except for the fillet.. that's usually a bit on the underdone side. and usually, it's all over-seasoned.
