I have literally no money right now

Recently got a bunch of cash from my job, money that was owed to us, shares that we'd normally not be able to touch till later in the year, and other stuff, pretty much all at once. So it's nice to have a few extra grand in the bank for once. Though the reason for all this money is because our company got bought out by the company that already partially owned us. That means lot of restructuring will happen and I'm just hoping nothing affects my job. There's really not much tech jobs here so I'd be screwed if I lost my job. With the high cost of living a low end job wont cut it either and that's all there seems to be other than mining jobs, which I'm not really qualified for. As much as I'd be willing to go work at Walmart or some other job like that if worse comes to worse, those type of jobs just wont pay the bills. So while it's nice to have a bit of extra cash in the bank if I lose my job it wont give me much time to figure things out. Maybe a month.

Though this whole situation is a wakeup call that I need to find a source of backup income.

Sadly, the only thing rent a coder sites are really good for is doing other people's homework the night before it's due. And there your only chance at beating out the Chinese and Indians is by being in a much closer timezone.

Well, even if you do get real jobs the bid level is ridiculous like you said. There's no way I would have ever considered them, you're usually much better off doing the same thing and selling it yourself on an app store. Not that I ever did anyone's homework either, but it seemed to me that that's what most of the highly active accounts there were doing.

I remember a long time ago when things got real tight. I had $2 in my pocket. It stayed like that exactly for a few weeks, $2. That's pretty close to no money. I wasn't about to spend those two dollars.
