I'm pretty sure that applies to men dating women only due to the fact that most women prefer to date older men and guys tend to like younger women. Not saying that this can't apply to same sex couples, but it's kind of built on the above principle so I'd have to say it really doesn't.

To the OP I was in a similar situation with my girlfriend saying it first. I was honest about it and said I didn't feel that way yet. It did get me thinking about it alot though, and when the time was right I said it too. I think people who say it just to not feel awkward and don't really mean it do a huge disservice to the one they are with. 2 months seems like a long time to me, and unless it's been pretty much stated it's a casual relationship with no expectations then I think I would expect it to happen by then otherwise someone probably will end up getting hurt, but better now than later, the longer you wait before disclosing the truth the more pain there will be.

Then you already know the answer to this.

He's a kid. You're not.
He's never done this before. You've been there... got the t-shirt.
He's enfatuated and well... you're a grownup.

TBH you shouldn't have been messing around with someone so young.

I didn't bring it up...lol.

but you sure put it down... :p

same as any relationship really... if you're his "first" (I'm assuming both gay/hetero), then of course he'll have stronger ties to you..

whether or not you "love" him is irrelevant... it's whether or not you can think he could handle rejection if you can't see yourself with him..

Of course now I've matured. Or maybe I haven't.

I'm 25. He is 18.

Exactly. Very hard lesson to learn & live through but most of us have.

Nothing is worse than falling deeper in love with someone over time while he hid [or outright lied about] his feelings [or lack of them] for months. Get it out in the open ASAP, it's the more decent thing to do.

Just a curious question, when a guy shafts a woman, really breaking her heart, women can go through a 'men suck' phase. When a gay guy dumps another, do they go through a similar 'men suck' phase of mourning? No pun intended

Generally not as often or for as long as women, but it does happen.

I went through a 6 month men suck phase where I just was not interested in anyone after my last big breakup. No dating no sex no anything.

how is 18 a little young? where has this moronic idea come from that you have to be the same biological age as your partner?

I think you should stop being Gay, and grab yourself a woman.
Also, you're 25, date someone...older than 18?

Why? What is so great about women?

From what I hear from straight men, they all nag and whine. And they never want to have sex. And they spend all your money. And they are hard to figure out. And they get pregnant, and then you have to stay with them. And when they divorce you, they take all your sh!t, and you have to pay them alimony and child support.
So tell me, why should I "grab myself a woman?"

I think you should quit being a jerk.

Also, 18 is legal, so there's nothing wrong with it IMO.

Why?

In all honesty I have some friends who are like 30 and date college chicks, and I personally think it's pathetic. It basically means they can't get someone in the real world who's on the same level as them mature wise and lifestyle wise. At 30 you are typically ready to settle down and in college, you are ready to party and have a good time.

That's where the age difference causes problems. I rarely if ever see an older women with a younger man, it's always the other way around. The guy see's a fresh piece of ass and is like DAMN this chick is hot, let me hit it! But the girl see's power, security and maturity and possibly a romantic partner. It's just different the way men and women can look at it.

Of course there are differences to the norm, so it's not like it HAS to be one way or another. However I don't think there is anything wrong w/having a fling with someone that's significantly younger than you, as long as it's understood from the get go.

you don't really know what is great about women because you've never been with one, and this woman doesn't appreciate your generalizations about women.
