absolutely nothing
you're the one who replaced the "christ" with an "x," which is clearly a symbol for commercialism.Originally posted by: Pokey007
When did this holiday turn from a religious holiday to a perverse commerical holiday. Shouldn't it be about the birth of Chirst and not about presents?

I'm not Catholic either, but let's face the facts. Christmas is more about December sales than an religious significance. Why should America have an Economic holiday? Doesn't this just embody consumerism?
Btw... What the hell is "consumerism"? The act of buying or selling goods? Isn't that what a democratic economy is all about???
Democracy is not an economic system.

hmm. I made a similar comment before reading the rest of the thread, but I was just being an ass. I believe x is the greek letter chi, which stands for christ. something like that anyway...Originally posted by: dartworth

How many people actually go to mass on Xmas?
Not everyone is Catholic...
If you want Christmas to be about God and religion, why take Christ out of Christmas and call it xmas?

First off... Thanks for the definition, although I never said that "democracy" is an economic state. By combining the terms "democratic" and "economy" I was referring to an economy within a democratic state. But even though you knew what I meant, you still had to insert your passive-agressive copy/paste of the definition (inferring that I am ignorant.) Lame.Originally posted by: notfred

It's not about forcing the stress of finding the perfect present for every person in your family at one time. Or battling massive hordes of other holiday shoppers. At least, that's what it wasn't originally about.
