If you didn't know, BestBuy currently has 120gig, 7200rpm, 8mb buffer, for 79.99$ no rebates or anything. They're doing this because Circuit City has it for 80$ after rebates, BB is doing a competitive pricematch in advance. So anyways, I'm there at 11:00 when the store opens this morning, probably the 8th person in the store besides employees. I walk over to the hard drive section only to see someone walking away with 3 WD Hard Drives. Low and behold, he's taken all of them off the shelves. I follow him to the cashier, he and his wife/girlfriend whatever are buying all the remaining ones that haven't been taken by employees. I think to myself, what a greedy lovely human asshole, and leave. As I'm driving through the parking lot I see his wife/girlfriend/sister/cousin/daughter walk out of the store with the 3 HD's in the bag, and I contemplate running her over 🙂 J/K. Anyways, I posted this on chubby wallet, where the deal was first publicized, and the guy responds to my post. His nickname is tweekerz, and apparently he likes to buy things for cheap and ebay/half.com them... His website, http://www.matthewzamora.com/ , proclaims that he's a DVC student, which pretty much confirms that he's the a-hole who took all of them... And of course, a couple hours later, an ebay auction goes up here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=30967&item=2727656915).

Anyways, people like that really piss me off... if you really need to make a profit somehow, sure take two, but leave one at least you asshole

Sorry, I'm just ranting, I can see how this might be smart business or whatever, but it still pissed me off because one of those HD's belonged to me!
 
haha i'm just used to going around spewing everything that comes to my mind, sorry if I offended anyone. I think i'll just stick with "asshole" from now on...

i was hoping for that... he handed one to his wife/girlfriend/cousin/daughter/grandma/sister as he approached the cashier, making me think that they could each only buy one, and hopefully that third one would land in my hands... I guess the cashier just let them get all three

If you wanted them all, you should have been first in the store to guarentee you would get it.

WHAT????!!!!! That sucks!!!

I just cashed in my Raincheck yesterday for two of the 8mb buffer 80GB drives for $70 apiece!!! Damn, that's 80GB I'm missing out on! :disgust:

I need to go to BBuy tomorrow and see if I can take these back and get a raincheck for the 120GB ones.

if you are just gonna sell them don't take them all, some people actually are buying them to use them

Then he's definately an ass. These sales usually come with strings attached: 1 per customer, and no resellers. The drives are sold at such low prices to get people in to the store(1 per to maximize people), in hopes they'll buy more; by not following either of those, he's defintely violating the spirit of such a sale, and in a sense is defrauding the company.
 
Do you have a link to your thread where he responded on chubby wallet? I would like to read his response and haven't been able to find the thread.

I understand what you are saying, but to the cashier at BB it was still 'one to a customer', no matter who bought them.

JUST KIDDING! How about we go create bogus accounts and bid on his auctions, then leave negative fb? :evil:
 
part of me says he is an a-hole for being so exploitive, but another part of me says that is the spirit of capitalism
