I hate mini vans

No I don't think you need the room, people like you "create" the need, although it's not really a need. Kids born 1990 - present are spoiled brats and their parents give in to them. Why do they need a huge mini-van with LCD TVs, bags of toys, and other crap for a roadtrip? When I was a kid, I sat in the cramped back seat of a small car, usually with just a pad and a few markers and sat quietly on long road trips. Didn't need TVs, bags of toys, 4 suitcases, and other similar crap.

For kids today it's "bring this, bring that." And the housewives of today are just like the kids, practically bring with them EVERYTHING in the house for a simple trip.

Suburbanites of today are NEUROTIC.

Edit: And you people drive WAY too slow, step on the gas. You're paranoid.

haha this is the most ignorant and blanket statement I have seen posted here in a long time... if ever. Unbelievable.

yes thats what I need to take the 2 kids to the park for the day! a full size cargo van that seats 12!
you're comparing apples to oranges.

I despise Minivans. A mini van....... Small van body w/ a small car frame!

These are road hogs! It's up there or surpasses the Suburban in inside space.

My old 1984 and newer 2003 Ford E350 EXT 1ton vans 😉
The newer one gets 18mpg. The older one I only drive on the property as it's no longer road worthy. But still a tough truck. 4x8sheets of plywood easily fit with room to spare.
Another pic of the 2003

they are nice. but not what i need for 2-4 kids and 2 weeks worth of groceries.

granted i can see using something like that a bunch. i sold my F150 and now wish i had not done it.

Why do you need an SUV to haul your single scrawny ass around?

Yea', but how do ya' like them apples? **LOL** I use it mainly for hauling lumber. I'm remodeling the house. I have all the rear seats out except the one directly behind the Driver/Passenger seats. All the rest is open space.
I'm surprised I've yet to see Pimp My Ride makeover a vehice like this. You could fit a supertwin bed and pretty big speakers in this thing.

Yea' boyyyy, You've officially been 100K Pimped 😛 That would be an awesome show.

EDIT: I have no kids.

What happens when you have more than 2 kids? The older ones walk?? Your stereotyping is moronic at best, please stop typing.

If you have 4 kids, yes a minivan is okay. But only 2? That's ridiculous.

Snow. I used to have a car and driving during the winter months is terrible without 4WD.

Give the man a break. I think deep down he's really envious of kids nowadays getting full blown entertainment systems with DVD and games in the comfort of a roomy minivan comparing to him being stuck "in the cramped back seat of a small car, usually with just a pad and a few markers and sat quietly on long road trips" - pwned

First off, safer in most cases.
Secondly, believe it or not, kids do occasionally require items to be brought along. You know... diapers, wipes, change of clothes and yes... toys. These things take up space.

Do you not drive anywhere that requires you to bring things? Like a weekend trip to grandmas? Or a quick get away out of town? Well if its you... no problem. 2 people? no problem. 4 people with luggage and "stuff" problem.

Please you don't even have kids so you have no idea. You're argument of how you used to drive around? Well thats fine... we all did that. And many kids died from driving like that. I'm not going to risk my kids life because you don't think minivans are useful.

Edit: I forgot, my wife does carpool the kids to school too (or often we bring along their friends if we go to the zoo etc.

Edit again: Please note, we had a 2 car sedan up until 8 months ago with 2 kids (3 and 5 years) and it was hell. PURE HELL. Why should we all smash in? The minvan is a billion times better.

Again your statements are ignorant and unfounded. Don't post unless you know WTF you are talking about (this goes for everyone in any thread IMHO)

I got my '65 Ford F250 for that thanks 😛

How many diapers you need for one trip to the park!? You can't put it in a trunk? Don't tell me a typical car doesn't have enough space for any short trip because it does.

And safety? Can you say "paranoid"? See this is what I mean, you parents of today are paranoid out of your mind. I bet when you buy your kids a bike you'll make them wear helmets? It's ridiculous. When I was a kid and my friends saw me riding a bike with a helmet on they would have taken that helmet and beaten me with it. I learned to ride a bike in ONE DAY, with NO training wheels and NO helmet when I was 6 years old. And I bet your kids will be riding in boaster seats until they're 10. 21st century parents are absolutely nuts. Overprotective and turning a generation into a bunch of spoiled wimps. I was riding in the FRONT SEAT of the car with NO SEATBELT by the time I was in kindergarten. You people are NUTS.

You have no idea what your talking about. The 2002 honda odyssey does 0-60 in 7.3 seconds, same as the 07. Now i know that isnt a speed demon by any means, but its pretty damn fast for a people carrier. Hell it beats everything in the honda lineup minus the s2000.

well dam...where the hell did the accord v6/civic si go?!

You just lost right there.

Millions of people survive just fine each and every year with FWD cars in the snow. 4WD/AWD is a convenience and nothing more. It makes things easier, it's certainly not a necessity.

Just like having the space and functionality of a minivan is a convenience. The space isn't necessary, but it certainly is nice.

eh? i drove years in a FWD (even RWD) and never had a problem in the snow.

so you do not need that 4WD.

you are nothing more then a hypocrite.

so wait... you are saying that taking steps to help protect our children (and ourselves for that matter) knowing what we know today is being paranoid? or stupid? I also teach my children not to stick forks in the wall outlets, drink bleach and try to reason with idiots on internet forums. Those are all things that increase their safety. So why would I not invest ina device that helps protect them from idiots around me driving at 60+mph (my self included)

Please, your reason is entirely flawed and stupid... actually its just non-existent.

And yes, a standard diaper bag will fit in a car easily. But say I have present to take or a dish to take along to grandmas... the "stuff" adds up. And if I can, thanks to today's technology and invention known as the "minivan" take MORE why shouldn't I?

Do you NEED all those HD channels on your TV? The leather trim in your car? The 4ghz CPU in your PC?

The only FWD cars around are either cheap or go-carts. You cannot find a sporty FWD car or true luxury FWD car. My previous two cars were RWD and it was terrible.

And my neighborhood doesn't not get plowed as well as it should so after the first snow there is a blanket of ice on the ground all winter. I cannot tell you how many times I was stuck in the house when I had a car. Couldn't go anywhere.

Exactly. We don't NEED 99% of what is offered to us today. But much of it makes our lives easier and/or more enjoyable. That's the entire point of INVENTION!

why do you need a sporty car? you do not. you are telling you can not get a nice Accord or such? yeah bullshit.

i live in the country. out in the middle of corn fields. we rarely get plowed out. yet my escort (little fwd) and every car i have owned has worked.

just another hypocrite

Do you live on a dirt or gravel road?

Minivans are fvcking awesome for transporting things. Be it your 50" tv, fridge, 2by4's, garage doors, sofas, furniture, a minivan will do those things better than suv can, while also consuming much less gas than suv. Its a great secondary vehicle, imo

Right. So I guess Acura isn't sporty or luxury. Audi doesn't exist. Vovlo and Saab don't know a damn thing about snow. And your gussied up Pathfinder has the athletic prowess of a BMW.

You're a riot.

dirt or gravle? shouldnt that be dirt/gravel or pavement?

the main road is paved and the small street i live on is pavement with gravel on it.

neither gets plowed out (well maybe once a winter).

have we had problems? nope.

millions survive without a 4wd vehicle in snow. you do not need it. to even claim you do with the arguments you have used tonight just makes you a hypocrite

Gravel creates traction. I live on a newly paved street. Very smooth and very hilly neighborhood. Coat that with ice and snow and FWD is worthless. Many of my neighbors have FWD cars and often times they are unable to leave, while I just go right on through it like it's nothing.

And don't even try to drive a car FWD or RWD in 8+ inches of snow, you'll get stuck right away. I've been stuck in the snow atleast 6 times my life with cars. Never once with my 1337 Infiniti. I could probably get by with an AWD car, and I would like a new Lexus IS, but I don't care to spend the money right now. Infiniti is paid for and I like not having a car payment. Maybe next fall.
