I hate it how Christians attribute random events of life to "miracles."

when quoting you should capitalize the G so we know what context this person was talking in... with the lower case g it makes it sound like the comment was tongue in cheek.

Dain, does it really matter? Who freaking cares? I don't see how it negatively changes the way you live your life and in a way that you cannot control or ignore.

The chance that my life would end up with me replying to this thread is easily greater than 1 in a 1,000,000.
It must've been GOD that set me up for it!!!!

Way to tolerate others beleifs

Do you know what tolerance is? Tolerance is respecting the right that they can say what they want. Qualifying the beliefs isn't beling intolerant it just means that one has a negative opinion of those specific beliefs. Think of tolerance as an abstract concept and specific beliefs as being able to be criticized.

So you don't think anti-gay protesters are intolerant then?
The question is if "anti-gay protestors" would tolerate a "gay" to be who they are or not. If the answer is no, they don't believe that gays should be the way they are, then they are intolerant by definition.

My grandparents have done this. It's kinda annoying.

On the upside, they aren't taking Christ' name in vain like every 3rd word on this forum.

Look at the post above yours, relates to gay tolerance, so I guess I can let you two slide :)

No they would not be, only if they tried to prevent them from being gay.

If I were to shuffle a deck of cards and lay out each one, face-up, side-by-side in a sequence, the probability of the resulting sequence no matter what it is is 1 in 8 x 10^67.

Does that mean that every time I shuffle a deck and lay the cards out I'm witnessing a miracle?

Read my first post -- consider "tolerance" in the abstract concept of "recognizing one's right to exist." End the definition there. The definition is or it isn't.

You have defined miracles as events that have a probability of 1/1,000,000 or less. Lets say that every second each person experiences an event, ignoring the fact that a million things could have happened to that person in that second. Just go with seconds to make things easier.

Based on that, there are roughly 300 miracles happening in the US every second. There are 7000 miracles in the world every second, 420,000 miracles every minute. There are 25,920,000 miracles in the US every day. Think about that, 26 million miracles in the US every day based on the fat kid rolling dice ?religion?.

Let?s look at it from another perspective. There are 86400 seconds in a day, 604800 seconds in a week. A person experiences 0.6048 miracles a week. Put another way, everyone experiences a miracle every eleven and a half days. That is a little over 2 miracles a month. The average person in the US will experience about 2200 miracles in their lifetime based on the fat kid rolling dice ?religion?.

I can?t guarantee that you?ll notice all the 1 in a million things that happen to you, but the world isn?t limited to one event per second. If I tossed a million knives at a million people from a foot away I would hit almost all of them. Should the douche that I missed because I hiccupped consider it a miracle that I only killed nine hundred thousand nine hundred ninety nine people?

You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You?re the same decaying organic matter as everything else. That miracle wasn?t Joseph, Mary, Jesus or any other deity acting in your favor. It was the result of you not ****** it up like you did the 999,999 other times.

Bible says "In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." They seem to be practicing this.

Also a miracle is when God violates a natural law to accomplish something. Putting you in the right place at the right time is not a miracle. The term "miracle" gets misused.

WTH...do they *seriously* think that god determines when their car tire blows out? Do they really think that it was God that made them run into an old friend that they hadn't seen in a year? Come on, these are seemingly educated people who spout this crap. I find it almost nauseous. My grandparents are getting a little edgy also, but the couple keeps doing it.

You know what? Here's some tap water, turn it into motherfvcking wine. Here's my friend with cancer, heal her. Here's my dead friend, raise him from the grave. Otherwise quit fvcking talking to me about the angels that you see. Come back to me when you quit hopping up on LSD.

-1 for use of the word "whom". It's overused nowadays, and makes one sound pretentious.

I like how god has killed a half a million in Darfur, or the miracle of the 300K killed in the Asian Tsumami, or the real hoot of the New Orleans floods. Thank God!
