Actually there was a study done saying which products it was worth getting the extended warranty on, if I recall correctly washers and dryers were one of the few that was worth it. Laptops aren't.

If you want additional warranty, go to the manufacturer, the middle man will always try to save coin and deny your warranty requests.

Having worked in retail sales and seeing how often problems crop up, extended warranties on laptops are not always a bad thing. I think $179 is fairly reasonable, if they include a battery replacement and issues with the LCD. We used to charge $300+ for that at CC.

so often I give recommendations of what to buy and by the time they come home they let the salesdrones steer them into overpriced junk. Many times too complicated for them.

Then they try to blame me when things don't work well.

fridge, lawnmower, washer and dryer, are all things i would expect to last for 10 years. a disposable $500 notebook is not something i expect to keep for more than 2 years, if even that.
