First, a warning:

The following pictures may or may not be for the faint of heart. Gore is work safe so don't worry about that.

Second, the proof:

That doesn't look so good, man.

It doesn't look any better close up, either.

I'll just walk it off!

Third, the story:

I was at my school's gym, minding my own business, when I had just laid down on a flat bench to do some flys. As soon as I had hoised my weights above me, I'm greeted with a lovely smashing sensation to the face. I throw my weights down, jump up, put my hand to head, remove it, and it's covered in blood. I think, "Holy sh|t." I cup my hands in front of my face as blood pours into them and take off for the office at the gym. My friend who was across the gym at the time runs with me and valiantly tosses anyone in the way out of the way. He's awesome. :D

What happened, you ask? Well, adjacent to the bench I was working on is a rack for curl bars. Some skinny, never-been-in-a-gym-and-has-no-concept-of-gravity-and-simple-physics guy decides it'd be a great idea to take all the weight (which wasn't his as it was a sizeable amount) off one end of the bar leaving the weight on the other side. Naturally the heavy end falls down, the now empty end whips around, and lands squarely on my face. Let's hear it for idiocy.

Anyway, an ambulance ride and 12 stiches later, I'm doing okay. The pain wasn't that bad but the massive bruising and throbbing is sure to worsen in the coming days. I'm probably going to a plastic surgeon tomorrow to make sure I don't get any bad scaring because, and let's be honest here, that's not a face you want to mess up. ;)

Moral of the story: Don't be a moron and, if you are, make sure to only hurt yourself.

Yeah, I know stuff like this happens. I wouldn't feel bad if I had done it to myself but it was the other guy's pure negligence and stupidity that got me good. :(

There was no way I could see it coming... the trail of blood I left as I ran upstairs was pretty sweet, though.

You got your ass kicked by a "skinny, never-been-in-a-gym-and-has-no-concept-of-gravity-and-simple-physics guy."

HAHAHAHA

Anyway, that looks really bad, hopefully it will go away fast, leaving almost nothing behind. What did the skinny kid do after that?

You poor guy :(

That guy is a total idiot!!

A guy in our gym did that....and then tried to act all Bad A55
about it afterward.

He's a total retard that doesn't belong in the gym.

Hope you get better, I got a similar but much less serious gash on my head last week at the Big Ass show in Salt Lake City. I only had to get 4 staples for mine though!

BTW, I swear your shirt says "Celine Dion" on it!

That sucks. I've done that before in my basement. No injuries like yourself, but I got smacked in the face once. Same story. I was changing the weights on my bench by myself and took everything off one end as I alwys do, while holding the empty end down with my hand. Bascially changing between exercies (curls to bench or something like that). Had all the weight off one end. It only took a second of lost concentration. SMACK

Your nose wasn't broke? Looks kinda FUBAR'd.

A couple years ago in an open gym game of "stick ball" (baseball but you use a friggin' broom stick and tennis ball), I was playing back-up for third base, and the person at bat completely let go of the stick at the end of his swing. So this big splintery stick is flying at the both of us, and we're only 20 feet away because it's inside a gym, we both attempt to duck, and I hear a dull crunch sound and then the stick falls to the floor beside me.

The stick gouged the third baseman's skull about an inch above his eye socket. Blood, everywhere. He stood up, saw the blood, and went unconcious. I think he ended up having 10 internal stitches and 8 external stitches. If he hadn't have been standing there, I probably would've gotten beaned by it. We all thought he was pretty lucky it hadn't hit an inch lower, that thing probably woulda made it to his brain.

He's paying your medical bills, right?

I hope you feel better soon. That's a nice battle scar you got.
