Yeah, like I said, I'm probably going to see a plastic surgeon today or soon to make sure I don't end up with any horrific scarring. My insurance will cover all the medical costs - including the $400 ambulance ride - so I'm not immediately worried about that. Since it wasn't my fault, though, it does seem like my insurance will be kind of pissed off. I don't know if my insurance will want to go after him to recoup costs or what but it certainly seems like they could.

As for me taking him for all he's got, I haven't even thought about that yet. Certainly if I have to get surgery of some kind I won't want to pay for it but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Monetary compensation for my mental pain and anguish could be in order as well. Seems to me any case I brought against him would be pretty much open and shut.

We'll get there when we get there.

Yeah he would, but is it worth ruining another person financially for an honest mistake? Recouping losses is one thing, maybe a little extra for the inconvenience, but as long as his face gets fixed as good as new, then ruining the guy financially is just mean.

Assuming that he is still in high school woudn't the only person he can sue is really the school as the person that dropped it is a minor or am i totally wrong here. (i admit i know exactly nothing about the law)

Yeah, I'm a senior at the University of Illinois. Thanks for thinking I look 15, though! I'm on the Urbana-Champaign campus, by the way.

No, it wasn't a full 20kg bar. It was one of those shorter, smaller, and bent curl bars that weighs around 8-10kg, I think. It's about a meter long. I can't even imagine what would have happened had it been the 20kg bar. I don't even want to think about that.

And yeah, I got pretty lucky in that it didn't hit any more sensitive areas of face. The forehead was bad enough but my eye sockets or teeth would have been worse. :disgust:
