<< I'm really confused now--the letter they send me says I've been "recommended" for admission to UCLA. I called them up, and asked them if I was accepted, and they replied that I wasn't "rejected." They didn't want to say for sure that I was accepted...

Why can't they just say if I was accepted or not :|

Is the Engineering Open House worth going to? I live near San Jose, so it wouldn't be that far away to drive...
>>

the letter means you got in. they can't officially say anything but if you go to the open house the dean will probably tell you all that you got in. it's not worth going to. just go to one of the earlier orientation sessions (during the summer) to get your classes. you will never see the people you meet at orientation again. and everyone is going to try to act cool even though they're not.

Congrats!! You should be VERY proud of yourself as it is a VERY prestigious school. You can write your ticket there if you get decent grades. The party scene is great also.

ALL UC schools rock. Regardless of the UC school, rest assured your getting a world-class Top education. I got accepted to Ivy League, Cal, UCLA, UCD, Stanfurd. I went to Cal, took summer school at UCLA & UCD. I met many beautiful ladies at UCLA. ;) (all my UCLA buds have gone to TOP grad sko0ls...so a big GO BRUINS shoutout to ya'll....even though they lost to CAL last week...HA!

A shoutout to Pitt too....Pittsburgh is a very nice town, so I disagree with the dogging on this thread.

You've lived in the Bay area/LA and you think that Pitt is a nice town?

ucla is a great place. to the immediate north is Bel Air. To the immediate east is Beverly Hills. To the immediate West is Brentwood (ex-OJ territory lol). To the immediate south is. um. more traffic. But 3 out of 4 isn't bad. it's relatively close to LAX too, if you wanna escape once in a while :D

this place has been such a wonderful place to go to school. secluded in a rich area so you can lay back and relax, and yet somehow, immediately next to famous and fun things to see and do that are bustling with life and action.
where else can you go to school where movie stars regularly visit the doorsteps of campus by holding movie premieres in westwood? somedays, you make the quick 5-10 minute walk to westwood, hoping to grab a quick dinner, and you happen to walk upon the world premiere of Harry Potter or We Were Soldiers, being broadcasted on national TV, red carpet and all!! you won't complain about boredom here!

My favorite celebrity I ever met in Los Angeles? Believe it or not, Anand!!!! hahaha :D (It's funny how i place him over movie stars and athletes) That was lucky though, for usually he's on the east coast.

i hope you have a great time, as much, and hopefully more than I even did!!!

CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING IN TO UCLA!!!

(now it's my turn to sadly get out, as I am graduating this quarter!)

<< My report card said 3.766, but that's with 9th grade included. I believe UCLA doesn't count 9th grade, so it was much higher (my lowest grades were in 9th grade). >>

Congrats man :)

I myself an a trojan, so I should say something like "LOL, you actually applied there?!"

right now I'm a freshman and I applied there as well.

the thing i don't quite understand is that my gpa and sat scores are pretty much the same as yours and most other people I met and they didn't let me in. (yeah that day sucked. especially since i knew a bunch of other people with lower gpa/sat/sat2s that got in. grr...)

and, i do believe ucb is easier to get into. man, i can't believe that school rejected me too after seeing the people who got in. (I really hated the UC system after that rejection letter)

Well, congrats :)

enjoy college
