What are you talking about? You don't even know what she was doing, so how can you be in any position to say that it is right or wrong?

iTunes is not worthless, it is a great program to manage one's music library. In fact it is my preferred app, and I use it and recommend it highly. And what's this about taking away purchased music? You want to take away things from your mother that she bought? When again, you don't even know what they are? What agenda do you have? How does that even make sense?

Hello, she doesn't have a music library. All the music she owns are on CDs, she isn't ripping anything, to my knowledge she doesn't listen to music on the computer at ALL.

maybe she's decided to start out of a desperate to need to drown out the sound of your soprano, girlish nerdy nagging voice ?

Read the OP idiot, which apparently, none of you can read. I've already explain WHY she has it yet I'm still having to read through posts like this.

its a program. get over it. its not going to cause harm to anyone, including you or her, so it means nothing. its not spyware riddled, so who cares. if you cared about your mum you'd get rid of AOL.. itunes is not the problem ;)

In my book, iTunes and aol are the same thing, both worthless POS excuses for software. You say it isn't going to harm her, couldn't the same thing be said about aol? Ya know what happened when I tried to get rid of her aol? She said she'd rather DIE than live with out her aol. It's like friggen dog who found a bone and when you try to take it away, that sweet puppy becomes a vicious creature.

Undoubtedly titled: How to be a Total Idiot for Idiots

God you're a moron. So I assume you have all sorts of 'utilities' like weather bug, bonzi buddy and aol, right? Right? You've got those search bars on top of internet explorer, right? How about real player? Like music match? Cause you've got to have at least 5 programs that do the same thing, all running in the background just in case you need to load it up!

Hmm:

1) Weather Bug--no idea what that is
2) bonzai buddy-hell no
3) AOL--no way in hell(AFAIK AOL is still barred from access to this website anyway)
4) search bars on IE-don't use IE
5) Real Player-Yes, for the occassional linked vid
6) Music Match-don't know what it is

If I had all those things running, wtf would it matter anyway? My computer(as is your Mothers), my perogative.

BTW I found out why she had it on there....

One of my sisters is a fairly successful artist who every once in a while makes art for music videos etc. and my mom said that she needed to either watch one of her videos or there was something on there that she needed to listen to. I also asked if she purchased anything from there and she said, "oh god no.." so eh. I'm still frustrated with her spending habits though, shes trying to find an excuse to buy a new laptop and recently she happen to 'oops, break it' a bit.. (Sounds like an excuse to get a new one) when her laptop functions perfectly fine and is only 2 years old.

you do know the only way to get quicktime also installs itunes?

Because that means-->slow computer--->honey, can you fix my computer? It's slow!--->Frustration and me leaving the room--->Ok I'm buying a new laptop now--->No you're not, all it will do is prevent you from getting any work done, your laptop works fine-->arguement--->another post on atot.

Also your post clearly shows how computer illiterate, well in a 'way' at least, you are. You may know how to navigate your computer but it's clear you haven't encountered the crap that people tend to pick up as they surf the 'net...

She didn't install quicktime because she already had it on there...well at least quicktime alternative.

windows media 11 is pretty nice, but until i can get it to interface with my ipod, itunes music store + ipod is the way to go for me

Eph pod+The god father+foobar2000.

that is way too complicated....

Sorry, but it's not.

I've installed unix, linux, know the Cisco IOS, and know how make some killer babi back ribbs.

trust me, itunes easier than ephpod+ the god father + foobar

It's interesting that the mother of Boy Wonder? apparently had no problem installing iTunes, yet she probably would have never installed those three applications. Which, in a sense, does prove that it is too complicated for the average user.
Anyways you guys need to read my edit in the thread, she, like I said doesn't listen to music on her computer so the point is moot. It's installed on there and I'm sure it's taking up resources it shouldn't be, much like aol. They're both AWFUL SOFTWARE yet none of you will accept the fact that I don't want her using it.

good for you, that doesn't change the fact that it's a bloated POS excuse for a music managing software. Trust me, soon you people will realize it's crap and it does infact need to be removed, the same people who have been saying iTunes is fine are the same people who were saying AOL is fine and it's not really *that big of a deal*.

I rarely ever post in OT, and this thread is a prime example why. I just don't understand why people feel compelled to respond to idiocy, and stupidity.

See ya back in the "real" fourms...

What bothers me is this idea that he thinks he controls his mom and her money. Unless you make it, shut up. As far as it being your dad's money, they are married, it is *THEIR* money. If your dad has a problem with how it is spent, then let him deal with it, not you.

I find it hilarious that an argument ensues after you tell her she won't get a new notebook. Who the hell are you to tell your mom what she will and will not get? Especially if you are living under their roof.

My mom used AOL for a long time. It served her purpose and worked well. She eventually moved to a local ISP. I don't tell her what to install, and I fix the problems she has, either that or I ask one of my local buddies to do it.

Funny, they will fix it for her for free, as will I, free of cost and free of any snot nosed remarks on how she should live her life. Why? Because it's called respect and curtousy, it's obviously something you lack.

You owe your mom your life and all you can do is trash her on an internet board. You owe her your security and house and all you can do is argue with her when she wants help. You are a disgrace to children. Show your mom this thread, tell her you are sorry, and then fix whatever she needs fixed.

I feel sorry for goku's mom :( She has to put up with a useless piece of sh!t son like goku. :|

Unless you're paying rent and earning money to pay for household things, you need the STFU goku and apologize to your mother. Damned kids think they know everything these days and actually know nothing.

Somehow, I don't see the mods listening to your "request." But feel free to continue insulting everyone and flamboyantly trolling, *maybe* it'll happen.

Quicktime and iTunes are generally bundled on apples website. She probabily needed quicktime for something, and got itunes as well.

For some reason this rumor gets repeated over and over again in the AT forums. But it is not true.

Well, right there on the Apple website that you linked it says (and I quote):

QuickTime 7.1 with iTunes 6 for Windows 2000/XP

To me, that sure as hell seems as if it comes bundled.

Oh, I didn't see that first. Apparently Apple has decided to hide the standalone download well, but it's still on the page I linked. Text

Your reply is the equivalent of this.

To me, iTunes=viruses/spyware.

iTunes is not the same as bonzai buddy. Bonzai Buddy and Watherbug and all those other programs are spyware and are usually installed on accident when visiting shady websites. iTunes is a legit program from a legit company. You may or may not like it, but you must realize your comparison with shady spyware applications is invalid.

No, they ARE the same as spyware. In case you didn't notice, bonzai buddy AND weather bug do infact provide a service much like iTunes.
