How is Chinese any less filling than anything else? It has beef and chicken on the bar among other things. How could chicken/beef at a Chinese place be any less filling than chicken or beef at a different type restaurant? Is this just one of those things people hear everyone else say and repeat?

I think I've heard that somewhere before, but it's complete nonsense.

Maybe because a majority of it is rice / noodles and only small amounts of actual meat in most cases.

I find eating a actual Chinese person keeps you full longer.

Because its mostly carbs. The same reason why you are hungry an hour after you eat a pound of pasta.

not 30 min, but much much faster than if i eat a salad or other low carb/low sugar meal. the hunger is ravenous too, not just a little hungry

BS :) The wife and I go to the local buffett place at lunch and we're still full come dinner time. Of course that has everything to do with what you actually put on your plate....

Last Sunday the girlfriend and I went out to an Asian buffet and my fortune cookie said: "You will be hungry again in 2 hours."

I find it to be true, although I never knew this was considered part of the "common knowledge". Not just rice and noodles either. I make chicken and vegetable stir-fry with as much as 1.5 lbs of chicken pretty often at home and it does the same thing. Stuff just doesn't take much digesting I guess.

Ever eat dimsum? Most of it is shrimp cooked 1000 different ways.

Whenever I eat it, i get comfortably full but not stuffed, and by the time I get home im hungry enough to finish off the leftovers of what I had.

lots of steam-cooked / light meats, just thinking about it has me starved

I beat up a Chinese guy one day and 30 minutes later I wanted to beat up another.

Whenever I eat Chinese I am usually full for quite a while, even with fast food Chinese, where I almost never get rice/noodles. If I go out for dim sum, I am usually stuffed for the entire day.
