Hated it. Focused too much on the kid and girl. Very little action and stupid plot.

The old animated Transformers: The Movie was ten times better.

I loved it, but have to agree they focued too much on the human characters.
Also a big fan of the animated version.

The whole movie was basically a car commercial for GM.

DAmn! is GM selling Transformers now? What's the MPG on those things?

I can't afford the car insurance on the Raptor that Starscream transforms into. :(

Now when creating a story about such characters, wouldn't you go in EXPECTING a cheesy popcorn flick? Did the critics honestly expect social commentary on robot war or something? The movie is about robots with freakin' giant guns for pete's sake! Explosions and bad jokes seem to fit.

So why did you hate Transformers?

1) Plot made no sense
2) Dialog was retarded
3) For all the money they spent on that shit they could have wrote a better script
4) That middle part just DRAGGED ON FOREVER

I heard it was a amazing but never saw it till the day after I saw Ironman, so maybe it didnt get a fair cut for me. I thought ironman was great, with the jokes being well done at the right times.

Transformers was a movie made for 10 year olds as far as I can tell. No one my age (21) and certainly no adults would consider that movie anything but a kids movie unless they are really
really into the comic books and old cartoons still.

Ironman has a really stupid premise too but they pulled that off without stupid crap like "humans have a right to decide for themselves!!!"

come on, give me a break with that writing. oh and "you're a soldier now!!!" lol...

Do you know anyone your age?

Frankly I'm surprised that females gave it a higher rating than males.

I am too, but on the other hand it was rated by 10x more males than females. And females in the age group that rated the movie often rate based on the cuteness of the male characters.

I found it very meh, and I enjoy most movies. It may not have been bad, but it definitely wasn't good.

I thought it was a fun action movie. I didn't care about plot development, I didn't care about cheese factor, it had a fair amount of humor, a gorgeous girl, and some good explosions and car chases.

Does every movie have to be the greatest movie ever made to enjoy it?

no. but they don't have to treat the audience like drooling morons to accomplish it, either.

example: True Lies. silly, stupid, great action, awesome fun.

Not that it's news or anything, but this world would be a much better place without Michael Bay.

Agree with me or not, I'm sure Batman and Spiderman would get negative reviews too if they included all the BS Transformers did.

Fortunately, Batman has an awesome director, actors and writers.

The Spiderman trilogy is a festering pile of shit as it has none of the above.

Spiderman 1 and 2 are lightyears ahead of Transformers. I don't see how anyone could diss Spiderman 1, they basically set the standard for comic hero movies.

I loved it. I didn't go in expecting much (see: Bay) but I was pleasantly surprised. Some of the plot was thin at best but I thought the movie was I thought it would be. CGI Action scenes with an average plot. I own the movie, have watched it many times and I enjoy every time.

People can B about how bad it is all they want, but it raked in 319.22 Million in box officer sales. That makes it #19 over all. A lot of times I think people just complain to hear their own selves talk. Hippies.

That's the problem with most movies today. Most directors like Bay just want to make some quick easy $$$. They don't care about anything else. They don't care about or respect the original story lines. They don't care to make an actual good film. They don't understand that you could steal the name of a household legend, stay true to the roots AND still make decent money off of it...Spiderman, Batman, X-men, and Iron Man are evidence that GOOD FILMS can be made out of comics while still making decent $$$...The LOTR trilogy is the perfect example as it raked in ~30 BILLION worldwide combined taking #2, #8, and #15 on the all-time list while staying faithful to the original books; they even managed to implement all elements of a "good" movie (action, adventure, romance, comedy, fantasy) and even won some friggin' Oscars.

There was nothing " especially " surprising about Transformers. Most of the action scenes we saw were already briefly revealed in the deceiving trailer making them "extended" trailer scenes. Count the total time of machine-to-machine action (which is what Transformers should really be about....not the crap Michael Bay forced down our throats) and you'll be sorely disappointed. 5 minutes out of 2 hours ain't a whole lot and I actually felt sorry for the guys that made the movie. They spent $150 million just to make those 5 minutes...

Anyhow, I enjoyed DIE HARD 4 much more than Transformers. DH4 was marketed as an action film and it stayed true to it's roots. Non-stop heartbeating action with some occasional funny lines by Willis. Finally a no nonsense action film I can really enjoy.

Personally I agree that there should of been more substance to the plot/story as a whole. But that said, I still thought the movie was good.

However I'll never buy it because of Michael Bay, nor for that matter ever spend any of my money on anything Michael Bay does.
