I never registered because I'm one of the few American males that wasn't required too :)

* Men born from March 29, 1957, through December 31, 1959, were not required to register because registration was suspended for several years in the late 1970s.

See what happens when you ignore the law.

No Federal jobs available for you.

That also could apply to state jobs.

Also may apply for some Federal funds.

Now, I registered, was excused because of college and family; but served afterwards with pride.

I signed up for it, I just wouldn't go if they called me to a war I didn't agree with.

Cold day in hell before I kill anyone for no reason beyond making douche bags rich.

I always LOL when someone comes in here whining about "I got turned down for student loans/grants or a State/Federal job because I didn't register for Selective Service."

There has been quite an uproar in this town lately because the city recently decided to drop the requirement of registration new hires/job candidates for city jobs.

I registered on my 18th birthday.

With that said, there's no fucking way I'm joining the military if our "defense" policy continues the way it is. If you need me to fight invaders on American soil, I'll be the first one to sign up and defend it. If you're saying I need to "defend" my country by going half way around the world and killing a bunch of people my country labels "enemies" to make some old fat men in suits rich, I'm gonna tell you to where to shove it.

Does 09/11 count?

My god were you raised under a bucket?

When I was growing up in High School no one ever cared about me enough it seems to tell me about it. Not my family, friends, School teachers, nobody. Is there anyone on here that can shed some light? Is there anyone that knows what I can do? P.S. I mean no offense to women, but I agree with someone elses post on here. It's not fair that if your a male over the age of 26 and you never registered with selective services that you CANNOT get help from the Government (as far as getting a loan) to go back to School, but if your a female you never need to worry about signing up, you can join the service and do everything men do and no matter what age you are the Government will help you to go back to School. So in other words, Government takes care of females to make sure that they can better THEIR lives, but when it comes to us males if any of us didn't sign up before 26 were screwed. Pardone me for saying that word, but thats what it seems like. It seems like a prejudice thing or sexist thing. Favoring females over males. I'd like to tell them what about MY life, don't I matter too?

I didn't register for selective service.

July 2, 1980, President Jimmy Carter signed Proclamation 4771, re-establishing the Selective Service registration requirement for all 18-26 year old men born on or after January 1, 1960

Aren't you some senior citizen by now?

I know/hope you were being sarcastic, but I don't agree that people who didn't do this should be entitled to the same benefits us that did. I think I have my card still some where actually.

Personally, I feel that if someone didn't serve, they shouldn't be entitled to any federal benefits. Of any kind.

I think we should have conscription. 3 years mandatory then the government pays for you to go to college.

I love the Selective Service threads, no better way then to bring all the pansy ass pussies to light. Good job being cowards. You weren't ever going to be drafted. But your irrational fear destroyed any semblance of logic and self respect you might have had.

I don't disagree with that at all. It won't help our deficit any, but would open up a ton of jobs.

When filling out my FAFSA online there was a little checkbox for something like "Check here if you want to register for the SS." If it weren't for that I probably would have completely missed it. Thank you internet.

Your calling me a troll? I just came on here asking for help and advice on what my options might be. I don't know about anyone else, but as far as me I didn't refuse to sign out of some fear to fight, I honestly wasn't told about it. My School told me nothing, they didn't register me at all. Okay, I can take a hint, no adults on this website that can be nice and mature enough to point me in the right direction, so I won't waste my time and anyone elses time here. For those of you that think I'm a troll or whatever you call those types of people next time don't ever be quick to judge having not see the person. God bless.

You had from 18-25 to register.

Otherwise, follow the instructions here:
