RE: your 360 game poll -
Bioshock is great. I think it's about 20 hours, and it's a phenomenal single-player FPS. But it lacks replay value because it has no multiplayer.

Assassin's Creed is a very good game IMO, but it's a rental. It's about 10 hours, and it has no multiplayer.

Halo 3 and CoD 4 are both great FPSes. CoD 4 is superior IMO. Both will keep you well occupied with their multiplayer modes.

Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, Mario Strikers, Zack and Wiki, Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles were all bad then?

I have chose the two system's to purchase. Now on to the games.

By the way, can someone recommend a GOOD set of HDMI cables for the PS3 ?

The under $10 one from Monoprice has worked perfect for me. Monster, Belkin, ect. are of similar quality but way overpriced, save your money and get the Monoprice one. BTW, while I respect your right to choose what you want, I think the poll was very Frank Luntz, particularly since the PS3+Wii was coming in dead last when last I looked. ;)

Yes, I totally agree with you. However, I feel there were less votes for the Wii and the Playstation 3 because there were just a lot more people here that owns the 360. And while I agree that right now the 360 does have more games that are popular. I guess what matters the most is what games *I* want to play. And doing some research, it looks like that would be the PS3.

And while I did not base my decision entirely on the polls, I just chose what I was more prepared to deal with. And since I knew hardly anything about the 360 or PS3....the thread was posted. After that, I started researching information regarding each system. And the *insert extremely high number here* of online posts and threads about 360 problem's, that was the biggest thing in my persuasion.

I was considering the HDMI cable set that is manufactured by Sony at Gamestop for $79.99. Is it good to have the name brand as opposed to the off brands ? Any last longer than the other ? Better quality ? etc:

I would like to thank all of you that posted in the thread. You all have helped me out a lot.

Nah, it really isn't worth the difference.

BUT!!!

If you ever have to call Sony support, do NOT tell them that you use 3rd party cables. That will automatically void your warranty.

That is good info to know  thanks

That will factor in to which cable set I purchase then.

And do you mean....Void the Playstation 3 warranty ? Or a warranty for ?

Void the PS3 warranty. There was an article early last year from an enraged guy who couldn't get his system repaired because he told the CSR that he was using 3rd party cables.

Your new polls:

Wii
Super Mario Galaxy - Excellent game. Worth playing.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Excellent game. Worth playing.
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition - Haven't played it
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - Haven't played it - not a fan of the series.
Super Paper Mario - Very good, very fun, but very easy.
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles - Haven't played it - not a fan of the series.

PS3
Assassin's Creed - Very good, but short.
Call Of Duty 4 - BUY THIS GAME, especially if you like to play online multiplayer FPSes.
Heavenly Sword - Rent it if you like the genre. I rented it and played some of it, but it didn't keep me interested enough to take the time away from Halo 3 to finish it.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Excellent game
Ninja Gaiden - Mostly a remake of the Xbox version with some modifications. I've only played the Xbox version, but it frustrating.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 - Didn't care for the first iteration.
Resistance: Fall Of Man - Have only played it briefly. Can't judge it.
Oblivion - I have it for my 360, but I haven't started it yet.

Hah, yeah... I don't know what he used as the basis for his decision, but it certainly wasn't this thread.

PS3 - Assassins Creed, the cities are large, you can go ANYWHERE (cept inside buildings :frown: ), cool fighting moves, just plain cool, and the cities feel very alive and are full of people.

You can play in different ways, you can blend in and make full use of stealth, never having to kill anyone except your target. Or you can plow your way through and probably die in the attempt. Orrrr you could play more balanced, sneaking up and taking out anyone that gets in your way or might expose you rather then working around them. Very fun.

The downside is the camera can get squirrelly on you sometimes, outside the cities (the missions take place inside cities) is very bland and boring, beginning is horribly boring, and you can't cut peoples heads off.

If i was you, i'd head over to YouTube.com and search the names of these games ( -insert name- Trailer / -insert name- Gameplay ), giving you a good idea of how the games play.

Ah... yeah that delayed my purchase of my 360 for a while, but I can tell you I wouldn't have been nearly as satisfied with my purchase if I got a PS3 instead (I did buy a PS3 eventually, but my 360 gets the most play by far). My 360 died already (8 months), so I'm on my second one. If you buy from a store with a great return policy like Costco or Sam's Club, you don't even have to worry about the failures. I could tell that my 360 was on its last leg, so I went to Costco and picked up a new one. Switched out the hard drive and now I just have to bring my original 360 back to Costco for a full refund. Total lost playing time - about the 5 minutes it took me to set up my new 360.

I'm actually glad that I didn't buy my 360 until it had been out for a while, because by the time I bought it there were tons of good games that I could pick up used for under $30. That's one of the reasons I only have 2 games for my PS3 - the used games haven't dropped in price much yet.

Yea, I have been debating about the 360 and the PS3 for a few day's now. Just really don't want to take a chance of the failure. I totally agree with Costco and those stores for purchase of a 360. But where I live, the closest Costco is approx 148 miles from me. So would be a hassle for a return as well. Although would be an excellent choice if I lived near one.

In my area, the stores here are.....

Walmart x 5
Gamestop x 4
Toys R Us x 2

And a few Circuit City stores that are approx 76 miles from me. So these places is really my only option.

Of course, I could go to Costco and purchase, but it's just the hassle driving that far for a problem that Microsoft should have fixed by now. Especially with high gas prices.

There is no problem with newer models. If you get one of the 65nm Falcons, there will not be a problem and you have a 3-year warranty on RROD issues anyway.

I would reconsider your decision if you are making this purchase because you want to play primarily games. The 360 is simply the better console for playing games, it isn't even close with games like Mass Effect out, not to mention that it is cheaper. Having both systems, I use the 360 much more for gaming, but I use the PS3 all the time for watching Blu-Ray movies and DVDs. If you want that feature, then the PS3 is a better choice. But if you're just buying the console for playing games, then the decision is clear.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - Haven't played it - not a fan of the series. - Haven't played for the same reason
Super Paper Mario - Very good, very fun, but very easy. - BOR-ING & easy, I had to force myself to play it.
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles - Haven't played it - not a fan of the series. - Rent, do not buy. This game is fun, but it's not worth $50.

Bolded my opinions next to yours. Other games:

Ghost Squad - Rent this and play with others, it's short but a blast. My friend and I beat it in about 45 minutes

Medal of Honor 2 - Pretty fun to play online, but nowhere near COD4

Warioware: Smooth Moves - Fun for kids or with a group of people, but not worth $50.

Call Of Duty 4 is almost a must have for me as of now. So I have included that one

I thought there would be more votes for Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Any reason why no one is voting for this game ? Anything bad about it ?

There's nothing bad about it except that it's a four year old Xbox game that has been rehashed with updated graphics, a few new features, and a few missing features. It was an excellent game back then and it can still hold your interest now if you've never played the game from 2004, but it doesn't have the "shiny new toy" appeal like Uncharted and Call of Duty 4.

And as I mentioned earlier, Ninja Gaiden 2 is coming out this year for the X360.
