Apparently mods are allowed to troll and repost with impunity.
Mod call out = 1 week vacation.
Perknose
Senior AT Mod
So this is a serious thread?
He posted as a member, not a Mod.
I understand that, but he's still a mod, yet it's a bannable offense to call attention to a mod acting like Arcadio?
If it says "moderator" under his name, then he is posting as a mod. People will treat him, to some extent, as an agent of the site, whether it's on Digital and Video Cameras, Operating Systems, or ATOT. They will use his behavior to help gauge what is socially acceptable. Even if he doesn't have any unusual powers on that particular sub-forum of the site. Even if he doesn't use his "magic mod voice". The degree will vary, but the effect will not just go away because you want it to.
AT chose to openly give him special status as a mod (and thus also unusual social status), and it would be silly to expect people to just ignore that. Particularly given the AT tradition of ... aggressively ... defending the mods.
The alternative would be the "secret police" system that AT used to have, where the identities of the mods are hidden.
I hope you won't use your CRUISE CONTROL and bold text on me, as it is well established that they are the mightiest of all tools of debate.
Ignorance is no excuse.
When they came up with the lame idea of identifying the Mods, they also gave them the ability/right to post as regular members under their account that just so happens to say "Mod" under their user name.
If they are not doing something Modish, they are posting as regular members.
It's all cleared up if when posting as a mod they use bold text.
