America has always been a melting pot. Europe has never been a melting pot. This was actually cited as partial reasons for the terrorist attacks there (ie The terrorists were never really accepted into society). We have all sorts of crazy beliefs here from all extremes. Hell, half you Europeans think that the TV show "Friends" is an accurate depiction of American Life

London? Last I heard/read it had a composition more diverse than New York.

Diversity does not make a melting pot. I can put an Israeli, a Plestinian, a Chinese Guy, an African Guy, a Hispanic Guy, and a Hawaiian guy in the same room and call it "Melting Pot" and say its their home from now on. However, if they still identify with their home country/culture more, it is not a melting pot and they will merely tolerate each other at best. Europe lets societies live in their nations. America accepts them into its culture (in most cases).

Well, I can say that I have always heard of London as a melting pot. I believe Rome would be considered a melting pot as well, yes? I do acknowledge that there is a difference between diverse composition and a "melting pot" though.

This was one of the first links I found with a little Googling.

Ok, so London wins the "melting pot crown" I was referring to Europe in general.

I have to admit it gets interesting at the 15 minute mark. A lot of different culturs have flood stories, and I didn't know that.

I actually found that to be the most suspect. One would have to isolate the origins of these flood stories to determine their ultimate veracity. A few millenia of proselytizing can introduce stories into cultures that, over the course of centuries or more, take on many different forms.

I keep watching and watching. It has a Howard Stern effect on me. I keep listening to find out what he's going to say next. I'm almost hypnotized from the bullsh¡t.

HAHAHAHA. I know, don't you feel like you have to shower afterwards? I'm sure I lost 40 IQ points in the 3 minutes or so I endured.

WOW... a 50% reduction in IQ over a 3 minute video? That's amazing!

30% for me, but IQ doesn't work my percentages. A guy with an IQ of 150 isn't twice as smart as a guy with an IQ of 75. IQ is defined by a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 for the general human population, assumed to follow a standard normal curve.

i grew up being taught this garbage. my parents still believe it

i got as far as him saying evolutionists believe we came from rocks, that such an idea is ridiculous, and we should believe an invisble man in the sky made us out of nothing.

20 years of that crap i had, still creeps me out.

i agree with u that some americans are pretty dumb, but there are plenty of smart ones too. it's not the americans too blame, but christianity. it causes this nonsense. but i agree with u about the bush comment. i simply cannot bleieve that americans vote for someone that doesn't believe in science.

im not sure who i should point and laugh at the most: people like those in the video, or those that are so shocked and threatened by that type.

Eheh, bit extremist arent we ForumMaster ?

And OP, while t's true there's lots of weirdos in America.... I really think they are a small minority. It's just that they are so interesting to watch, the popular media can't help but portray more of it than usual.

One can't base one's understanding of a country only on the images one sees on tv or reads in the news. If so, Israel is filled with explosions everyday, Taiwan is always having elections, Korea is always rioting, China is starving, etc.

Btw, Denmark is where the anti-muslim cartoons came out, so if I base my judgement solely on what I read in the news, I'm going to think your country is filled with bigots who hate muslims and are intolerant towards other religions (now doesnt that sound just like your assumption of america?)

His "problem" is that he takes the Bible literally. I'm at the part where he started talking about fire-breathing dragons, and if the Bible talks about serpents with fire coming out of their mouths then the myths must be true!

Personally, I think if you're going to be Christian then you have to take the Bible literally. Once any doctrine is opened to interpretation you completely ambiguate the meaning from its creator and assign responsibility to man; I believe language in itself is incapable of describing the divine, and I know man is incapable of understanding what his creator "really meant to say."

FWIW, I'm not Christian (nor atheist), but I have (and sometimes do) read the Bible.

The Bible is full of stories with very good moral themes. While I believe that the Son of God lived 2000 years ago and rose from the dead, a good chunk of what we call the Bible today is just a bunch of stories to teach very important lessons about life.

Nice try. Tell you what, I just got paid for a job, so I'll put $500 on a little wager. You come take a sanctioned IQ test with me, winner takes all.

Yeah, it's entertaining. I liked the pink and blue dinosaurs. The trouble with modern Protestant theology, however, is that it's watered down in favor of appealing to audiences. There's rarely any challenge of difficult life reformation or anything like that. Most of it is happy-go-lucky... you're saved, and that's it. You don't have to earn it or anything.

People listen to what they want to hear. Preachers are not paid to preach a standard doctrine but rather are paid by the number of people they can draw into their churches, so it's quite beneficial to them to say what people want to hear.

People who can't understand science want to hear that science isn't important anyway.

Dude... it's a joke. Get over yourself.

For all I know, your really could have a 150+ IQ... I've met quite a few people in my travels who do but like you have a problem with not grasping reality.

I am fairly smart (am Mensa eligible), but I'm not naive enough to honestly think that there couldn't be some blithering yahoo out there who could best me on an IQ test. Not saying that you necessarily would... but I, unlike people of your ilk, actually like to be open minded about things instead of only pretending to be open-minded.

I've never met anyone who believed this crap. Nationality has nothing to do with this, blame this on Christians.

He's speaking to a full room, he's making videos, there must be some...

Again - what do that have to do with Americans? I'm sure there are some Christians in your country who believe in the same moronic ideas. I'm not denying that there are probably some people who believe this (probably a small amount - I've never met anyone who has).

Americans are the only ones that are this religious, look at many of Bush' voters.
People this rellious simply don't really exist in denmark, there's maybe 500 of them some place secluded.

Wow the ignorance and geocentricity is strong with this one, a bit ironic as these are attributes that the rest of the world often attributes to "that hegemony" At any rate it's a load of crap, but in America people are free to believe what they wish, no matter how stupid it may be.

Thanks for proving your bias against America. European elitism at it's best.

Yes, but he's actually correct. In a poll done last year Americans were found to be the most religious of any 'western' nation (including people living in and around Vatican City). We also have the highest percentage of fundamentalist christians (again, as per polls which are obviously prone to some error).

America is a pretty scary place to anyone with a brain.

Do you contend that one cannot be both a man of science and a man of God? Further, is it your position that the two are mutually exclusive?

Welcome to the stupid statement hall of fame. Can we assume you will be removing your ever so enlightened brain from America so you wan't have to suffer with all us barbarians?

Dude, it's no secret that this religious people don't live in "modern" europe, as in france, germany, italy, and that.

You just said that there are 500 in Denmark, if you are so enlightened, why are there 500 of them? Do you know the definition of the word contradiction? It's clear that you are a little out of your league here...

Why do you feel like you have to blame Christians for what he's saying? It has nothing to do with Christianity, but has to do with stupid people. There are stupid people of all religions (atheism included as a religion), races and origins that believe in all sorts of stupid shvt. You can blame "Christians" if all the crap he's claiming is in the New Testament. But then again maybe you're just mad that the Bible says your entire lifestlye is a sin? But it's been that belief by 99% of humans throughout history until like 20 years ago.

Yea, let's blame the Christians for something Christ didn't teach...
