It's not that much, when you have a family that makes $70,000 a year.

But we have a lot of debt to pay off. Living here is not cheap. 300 a week on gas, 850 rent, 230 a month elec, 100 car insurance, 200 groceries, 100 internet and CTV (ok, that's extra, I know :D) and on and on.

1000 a week is not that much. Keeping in mind we work 6 days a week and every week -- no vacations.

I was doing well with your story until I got to here.

I am a 1st generation American Citizen-natural born (parents came over LEGALLY via WW2 from Poland, courtesy of Russia). I'm 29 years old, spent 2 years from 2002-2004 unemployed due to 9/11 layoffs with a family of 5. I borrowed my way through school for an associates and a bachelors degree and am sitting on about 30k in debt that I still cannot pay.

What kills me is that I'm currently employed with a decent company making 30k a year in the Orlando, paying the EXACT same bills you are (if not more), with a crappier PC and probably going to have to cancel my internet and cable just to keep more money in the home... and I still have a hard time paying rent OR keeping food on the table. Yeah, that's right. I have to choose.

And what do you get? An illegal family making >2x more money than mine does. You're illegal, so hell, you don't even have to pay taxes (fake SSN = reporting taxes? I think not!). You're better off than my family who was "born into the American Dream".

You know what, QYB and pay the fees or get out. I'm sick of everybody taking jobs from the American worker. That includes China (Asia), Illegals, and the American Management.

Man, If I were you I'd be moving to another state where I would know I would get a better paying job (such as VA). You finished college and you are making too litle (unless your degree is in some liberal arts thing that you knew from the beginning it wouldn't make you any money)

Regards

What would I do? Start enforcing the laws we already have and secure the border. A fence would be a good start.

I'd also prosecute those who knowingly employ illegal aliens since that is illegal too. Heavy fines and/or jail time ought to do the trick.

Must suck to spend all that money on school and still end up with a low paying job.

LOL...

Regarding your comment about the fake SSN. Aren't they are still paying taxes? All the employers I have ever had has always taken them out before my paycheck. In order to receive any refunds I would have to file my tax return. So, in my opinion, if an illegal immigrant is using a fake SSN, he probably will still be paying taxes but he probably won't file a tax return.

Or they use ITIN instead. Perfectly legal for illegal to get it and use in lieu of SSN and will allow them to get the refund. Quite the irony. although there've been movement that'll allow USCIS to datamine the IRS data and check into legality status.

OP's best choice is to wait for either dubya new policy, or for the Dream Act to be enacted.

Born in 1983, came here before his 6th birthday in 1989. Now it's 2006 and apparantly his birthday has passed this year or he rounded his age up.

I am an immigrant here legally from a communist country that I don't want to go back to. I can tell you that the so called "fee" is nothing to get legal admission to the greatest free country in the world (and don't let anyone tell you otherwise unless they themself have lived under an oppressive government that gives you no rights).

Pay the fee - there are US citizen soldiers paying with their life, OK?

As long as anyone who comes pays taxes, I don't care. We are a nation of immigrants, but everyone has seemed to forgotten that.

Welcome to America, where the poor complain about their plasma TV's and their $4000 computers.

Not to mention the politicians who pander to them.

You can try talking directly to me instead of driving by and unloading your trash...
Yes, your comments are annoying to me...

Your comments annoy me in the fact that you are knowingly breaking the law. He doesn't have to talk directly to you because you shouldn't even be here........How's that for annoying?

If it were up to me your computer would be sold @ auction and the proceeds used to pay for some of the border wall. In fact, with your construction goals- you could even help us build it. Just make sure to stay on the Southern side.........thanks!

hahah, you are the biggest idiot(i still fail at properly addressing you) of them all. you are not even worth replying, but my 'ATOT urge' to ridicule you overcomes it.
Next time you need some extra money for anything, or have to pay some extra taxes, I will come to your house for the auction of all non essentials, which i suppose you hold every week. LoL and please, continue ur retarded support for an infinite "border wall" like its realistic. And please stay in ur house and order in, because i feel sorry for your neighbors and friends whose IQ must be dropping just by watching you.

P.S. "thanks!"

Your post is riddled with grammatical errors and yet you question my IQ? On top of that you assume and think it's unrealistic to build a 1200mile wall. I suppose the 370 authorized by the senate and 700 by the house are significantly easier than finishing the entire job. I fail to see how my support for such a wall is retarded but you have the higher IQ so you must be right!

Can't you read? Since 1997 he has been here legally. He has not been "knowingly breaking the law". Idiot.

Sorry, himself and his family knowingly "BROKE" the law. And since that demonstrates he isn't of sound mind and judgement to be a member of this country he should immediately be deported. That and the fact he's complaining about $2,000 and his poor family who are only making 3-6x what they would be in their own country.

Flawed comparison. his family makes $70K in combined income. You just make $30k while it is more then double, if you had someone else who worked you would be making a fair amount more.

I also think its safe to assume that his family does not have medical benefits and are paid to work per day, so a missed day of work is a missed day of income.

You on the other hand most likely have medical benefits and holidays through your job, work less hours, plus you have room for advancement. The work his family can get is locked to whatever they do now, unless they open up their own business.

as for your troubles, a quick fix would be to get married and have your wife work, get a flatmate, or move in with the rents.

Also the reason we'll never legalize all the mexican illegals is because after a few generations they are less likely to be educated and moved on from the labor they perform now. This is also the reason of why we allow Cuban refugees but not Hatian.

a while back we had the same problem with the Russian illegal immigrants, but you don't hear about that any more because they as a whole have moved on from their menial jobs, educated their children, and have pretty much integrated into society.

Actuallly, as a native born US citizen, if given a choice I would rather have someone like gersson and his family be citizens than someone with your attitude.

Well, as far as I'm concerned all racist are stupid. So there. There was this one lady trying to address me once and just called me a mexican. The context was that she was annoyed we were working a saturday above her apartment. We were painting and made absolutely NO noise...

I made sure she got what was coming to her, with my perfect American accent.

Well, as a native born US citizen, I'd rather just gersson be deported and you sent to prison. Lawbreakers and those that support them.........of course that's assuming you do anything to support these illegals other then sit on your rear and post about it here......

Nope you were born here- for those born here we have fines and prison.....deportation is for those who aren't citizens :)......I'm guessing you meant to say "I break the law"......if that's the case for the safety of everyone- slow down, turn off the cell phone, and pay attention :)

My girlfriend is an international student from Japan on F-1 status right now. One of the biggest problems we have in our relationship is obviously the issue of citizenship/permanent residency. She just got accepted into a co-op at IBM, and is hoping that would be the gateway to an eventual H1B (working visa) authorization. Unfortunately, for those of you well-versed in immigration laws and procedures, only about 65,000 are issued annually. These are predominantly for SKILLED workers. The applications to grab these H1B's usually flood Homeland Security way before they are even issued, and are effectively gone well before September (when the H1B's are released).

I'm not exactly sure what to feel about this "amnesty" controversy. It certainly seems unfair that illegals, many of whom I will assume are unskilled, would be granted an easy passage to citizenship, whereas law-abiding, SKILLED individuals such as my girlfriend, will continue to have a hell of a time getting an H1B, let alone a green card...

I don't suppose this "amnesty" plan applies to those who are here legally, but do not yet have an H1B or a green card? We'd gladly pay the $2000...
