Currently I drink about 4 Litres of 2% milk each week (about 1 gallon). By making this change this is what will be reduced:
Per Week:
Calories - 336
Fat (g) - 36.8
cholesterol (mg) - 144
Per Month:
Calories - 1,456
Fat (g) - 159.5
cholesterol (mg) - 624
Per Year:
Calories - 17,472
Fat (g) - 1913.6
cholesterol (mg) - 7488
Personally I think 1% tastes just as good as 2% (if not better) and there is a decent health benefit. Not bad I think 🙂
ZV <-- Will only drink whole milk.
i both agree and disagree with this statement. i agree that burning off 336 calories a week is nothing...one can burn off 400 calories by hitting the treadmill for 30-40 mins.
but i disagree in the sense that if OP needs urgent results, the loss of extra calories might help. if the OP doesnt mind switching...more power to him
If you're burning the calories and are healthy now, then there's no benefit. You'll only benefit if you're already in a negative situation. If your body is effectively and healthily using the fat, cholesterol, and calories from the milk and you take them away, you're not going to get super-healthy or something.Originally posted by: Stefan

When did I say I couldn't burn 336 calories in a week? I'm changing what I drink because it tastes just as good and I get an added health benefit. It's a win-win situation for me.

Switching is all well and good, but it's not going to make you more healthy if you're not having problems resultant from the 2%.

The difference is infinitesimal. If you're lucky, you'll live an extra minute or two from this.Originally posted by: Stefan
I'm sure I get more than enough calories, fat and cholesterol from my other foods. If I can cut it down by making a change that I like it's a positive thing. I like the taste of 1% more.Originally posted by: Zenmervolt

Skim milk for me. I just don't get people who say skim or 1% is "watered down", they remove the fat. They do not dilute whole milk with water.

Ok Mr. Technical, skim milk sucks ass because its fattened down.

I like whole milk the same reason I like good marbling in my steaks.
Fat = flavor
