It's sad that "mommy and daddy's wing" isn't the safe paradise that most people see. It can even be a more brutal and unforgiving place than the outside world. You people just don't realize that
WTF are you talking about?
Hmmm.....Dont have to pay rent, dont have to have a job, dont have to worry about medical bills, insurance, car payments, making the mortgage, job layoffs, downsizing, planning for retirement and...oh yes, supporting an ungrateful shallow pussy of a child....
Yeah, "mommy and daddy wing" is REALLY unforgiving isnt it.
Wow. I nominate for "worst ATOT post ever".

Please, don't ever have kids. Because if they come to you with a problem, that's making them depressed and concerned over it, you'll probably tell your own children to go kill themselves, wouldn't you?

Really? Funny, I have 3.
The oldest is tops in school. routeinly bringing home awards, and also the top athlete in her class as well. She enjoys all manner of activites, from playing the PS2 to reading a book, and is currently reading the Harry Potter series. She particularly likes horseback riding and archery.
My middle (son) plays games more then the other, and has excellent hand eye cordination. Hes also very outgoing, and routinely stays at our friends house overnight or for the weekend. In addition hes very creative and high strung, as most young boys are. He also loves to go shooting with me, and has been taught the proper basics of firearms handling.
Our youngest, well, shes a little ball of attitude. She has personality, and likes about anything. Has a huge curiosity for the world, and loves to help me on all manner of projects. Shes helped me install the car stereo, build a reloading bench, build a sewing bench for mom and do other little things around the house.

Yep, I'm definately a bad parent. I took a 2 hour detour on our last vacation to take the kids to the Nebraska State Capital, and here in the next few weeks will be taking them to the SAC Air Museum in Omaha. I've regularly taken them out to zoo's, mall's, parks and other places so they can see the world and get some education beyond the classroom.

Whats your point again?

Not every family is 'perfect' like yours. Its okay to be ignorant to what life is really like for some people, but you seriously sounded like a dumb ass when you opened your mouth.

You guys sure to confuse indifference with ignorant.
I simply dont CARE how tough your life is. Not one teeny tiny little bit.

If you don't care, why make a sepecticle out of it? Most people who don't care about things ignore it. *raises eyebrow*

As opposed to attention whores who cry out with fake pleas of suicide?

Oh, phew! I didn't realize that everbody who says he's contemplating suicide is actually just an attention whore. I thought -- it's going to sound silly, I know -- that sometimes people actually need help and telling them to kill themselves might actually push somebody over the edge. Gosh, but now that you've cleared that up, I think I'll join you in flaming random people WHO YOU AND I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.

I was just reading a thread where a young BOY just admitted to being suicidal and the remarks that followed were probabley the most shameful and disgusting things I have ever read here. People telling him to off himself, people making fun of him. If you don't know the hopeless feeling of depression and why someone would want to kill themselves and can't be supportive about it then STFU!

Depression is a serious mental illness that not only effects the person but everyone around them that loves them. How would you like it if you mom, grandmother, brother, sister, gf, whoever, was suicidal and there was nothing you could do for them? How would you like it if people told them over and over how much they sucked and told them to kill themselves?

Sometimes, suicide is a cry for attention, but it is almost never because "mommy and daddy wouldn't buy me a car", a serious suicide attempt is a cry for help in a world where life seems so terrible and hopeless that a person could choose not to exist.

This is not the first time I have read comments like this here. People "advising" others to ignore suicidal people (instead of calling the police or trying to get them help), people telling others to just kill themselves when they make a post describing how hopeless life is.

I know this forum is made up with little boys who don't know better or are trying to look cool but I am sickened by the attitude some here take towards suicide.

He was 15. Everyone at 13-15 at least once thinks they want to commit suicide and thinks they're "depressed." It's called growing up.

Obviously you take things way too seriously and have no experience with people of that age, so you stfu, n00b. I know people who are really depressed, and I know people who are self-diagnosed as depressed.

I hope this gets locked, for your sake.

Out of the 5 people here that have posted... I think you're the only noob in here.

He's definitely the only fvcking idiot...

I totally agree with you Kat. I often find myself disgusted my the posts made here. Not just in those threads, but in threads where people are just asking for help. It's like many of them are too good to just offer advice. They have to tear people down and belittle them. I think it's related to the inferiority complex many of the posters suffer from. If someone is genuinely unhappy and expressing it, there is no reason people should be bashing them.

It makes the people that love this forum, not want to be here. Me included.

This is the result of ATOT's high ratio of young idiots, who've got no more life experience than knowing how to wipe their ass. The typical "Grow up and stop whining." mixed with "Be a man, don't kill yourself, pussy!" is to be expected from such children. I expect that from teenagers, because we all know that most teenagers are inherently idiotic, but when it's stated by people well into their 20's, we must come to terms with the fact that a lot of people are just hopeless.

Telling a depressed person to "get over it" is like telling a pitcher to "man up", pitch the ball, and stop complaining. In reality some of the depression of these people is probably the result of living in a world full of imbeciles.

I feel sorry for anyone that comes in here looking for anything but a bunch of smart-assed remarks, no matter what the reason - you're going to get it every time. There exists no more of a callous place on the internet than these forums IMHO. It's all in the user base baby! Gotta love those little idiots that use the 'puter to exude some pompous fvckhead attitude. I guess it has everything to do with what you post and who responds to it, but it is sad that I am not surprised by the situation described in the OP.

some 15 year olds do kill themselves, even if most of them are just searching for attention.

For this reason alone encouraging the kid was stupid.

If they want to off themselves, let them. It's part of our society's problem these days. We've raised a bunch of whiny teenagers who cry and whine when they don't get their way. This wasn't an issue in the previous generation. People are so quick to diagnose anyone and anything as being depressed.

You want me to "comment on my own original thoughts"? Uh, okay. My original thoughts are stunningly brilliant! There. I commented ON my original thoughts. Or possibly you don't understand prepositions?

Or if don't understand the quote you can come out and ask me.

I agree about the amount of stupid idiotic kiddie posts that are made in threads like that...
I always try to be supportive of the person unless it's a stupid parody or someone like Aimster whom pretty much no one believes.

Good work posting up about the concern, this had to be done at some point or another!

While I dislike the posts and the reason they do it (over teenage girls or not getting halo 3 for xmas, whatever)... I still feel compelled to be nice or lend an ear. Quite clearly most people who are serious about offing themselves just do it, those who "attempt" or talk about it are begging for attention. But so what, is it that hard to give them a little attention during their worst hour when they are basically asking for your help? I don't think so, even if I know its a waste of my own time sometimes (the trolling ones).

Stop being little assholes and develop some compassion. God... would it really kill you to be a little more human?

Not gonna happen. I man up and face my problems, not get all depressed and try to off myself.

Either way, we're just gonna have to agree to disagree. I've made my opinion clear on what I think of these new fad "ailments" we see in society today.

Your ignorance is amusing. I don't think that's confusing it with indifference.

Sounds like your kids are geniouseseses. Congrats. Sounds like the kid that committed suicide for apparently uknown reasons.

Don't be so quick to judge about other people's problems when you don't care...

Not that I'm picking on you, but you seem to have the wisest answers in this thread.

Very nice ownage of "Special OP 007" lol. You should just stop posting SpecOp.

For those who can simplify clinical depression's solution to "get off the couch" or "man up" or "it's Darwinism", heed my quote: "Ignorance is bliss".

I suspect many have never even taken Psych 101, hence the premise for their opinion cannot be taken seriously.

SpecOp, did you marry your sister after having the kids? Nebraskans are good for a laugh out there in the sticks. Also, I've heard that many people in Nebraska have summer teeth: Some are here, some are there, get it? *snicker* </bliss>

This is about the level of idiocy that you've presented to this thread regarding your knowledge, and experience with respect to clinical depression. You should be up for owned of the year award by the time this is done.
