he said he USED TO BE "suicidal." and he's 15 yrs old.

enough said. I've been that way before during my late teen years, and as I look back on it, I WAS STUPID. Yes depression is serious, but people should get a grip. I snapped out of it, and all teenagers should too instead of screaming for attention and spreading their depressive drivel everywhere. They should make themselves happy first, then spread happy news instead of screaming out "i'm sad look @ me i'm sad!!! waah wahaahhh!!" STFU.

It makes me sick when they spew their load everywhere. Yes I do help those who do that, but I also make them realize how stupid they were, and they agree.

The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.

I quite enjoyed it actually. It's not like all the posts of these are worth reading.

If you don't know the hopeless feeling of depression and why someone would want to kill themselves and can't be supportive about it then STFU!

Depression is a serious mental illness that not only effects the person but everyone around them that loves them. How would you like it if you mom, grandmother, brother, sister, gf, whoever, was suicidal and there was nothing you could do for them? How would you like it if people told them over and over how much they sucked and told them to kill themselves?

Sometimes, suicide is a cry for attention, but it is almost never because "mommy and daddy wouldn't buy me a car", a serious suicide attempt is a cry for help in a world where life seems so terrible and hopeless that a person could choose not to exist.

This is not the first time I have read comments like this here. People "advising" others to ignore suicidal people (instead of calling the police or trying to get them help), people telling others to just kill themselves when they make a post describing how hopeless life is.

I know this forum is made up with little boys who don't know better or are trying to look cool but I am sickened by the attitude some here take towards suicide.

He was 15. Everyone at 13-15 at least once thinks they want to commit suicide and thinks they're "depressed." It's called growing up.

Obviously you take things way too seriously and have no experience with people of that age, so you stfu, n00b. I know people who are really depressed, and I know people who are self-diagnosed as depressed.

I hope this gets locked, for your sake.

What in HOLY GOD'S name are you talking about?

no, actually "everyone" doesn't want to commit suicide. stereotypes aside, the MAJORITY of teenagers have pretty stable and easy transitions into early adulthood. there's some akwardness and a little angst over social stuff, but true depression is the exception, not the rule. it's even less common in males. so how about you STFU if you can't even get your facts straight.

"knowing" poeple who are depressed doesn't mean you know sh!t. read some RESEARCH, and i'm not talking the bull that gets printed in USA Today. go to a library and read the actual papers published in the actual journals. hell, you don't even need to do that much. that information is in any lower-division psych textbook.

i hope you get a vacation, for your sake.

Ummm the fact that all 13-15 year olds in the United States get to that point where they think they're suicidal and depressed. And that there's a difference between self-diagnosed depression and clinical depression.

Can you not read English?

I can't believe you'd have the guts to say that. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WHETHER YOU THINK THE KID IS DEPRESSED OR NOT HE ENDED HIS LIFE OVER IT. People can get depressed at ANY age and little do you seem to know DO kill themselves. Do you think this was some type of "oh there's daddy's gun lets play with it" situation? Get real.

You're rather pathetic where you can't even improve upon your ownself. I actually realized my own faults as a person, and adjusted properly to live a happier life.

If you keep feeling sorry for your old self instead of bashing it, then I suppose there's no room for improvement for you.

Kat,

There are many where who view this board as their only outlet to strut, swagger and play the tough guy because they couldn't possibly pull it off in real life.

That said, I think many of us know how it feels to be that sad and despondent, the real shame here is that the OP followed his inclination to post here instead of reaching out to somebody he trusts in real life. The internet is wonderful but a text message can't hug you, can't make you a cup of tea or hand you a box of kleenex.

Has the technology progressed to the point where many of us prefer it's cold comfort to that of interacting with real flesh and blood people ? Are there really so many among usd who feel so unpowerful in their real time lives that they must use the web to act out and lash out against misguided peers ?

Nothing beats life in real time people, nothing.

I have NO sympathy for someone who wants to kill themselves. If you cant find any amount of happiness surrounded by all the crap modern day culture can provide for you, then the simple flat out fact is this world is better off without you.
Suicide is for the weak. Darwin at work. We desperately need him anyways.

Does this scare anyone else - someone that apparently holds human life to have little value, who has also posted other threads about requesting cheap depleted uranium, and radio detonators? At first, I thought that the other two threads were a joke, but now this comment - that scares me more than some possibly-suicidal 15 year old.

American culture is founded on having a lack of respect for human live. They wont admit it, but it surely is.
Simple proof? Whens the last time you were driving in the city and someone waved at you? Or said hi as your walking down the street?
Now, whens the last time some guy freaked out because someone was doing 65 in a 65 zone in the "fast" lane....

People hate people, most just dont want to admit it because they fear peoples response to that fact.

I think its just you that people hate......You are an ignorant asshole and youve accepted it, but dont group the rest of us with you.

WTF are you talking about?
Hmmm.....Dont have to pay rent, dont have to have a job, dont have to worry about medical bills, insurance, car payments, making the mortgage, job layoffs, downsizing, planning for retirement and...oh yes, supporting an ungrateful shallow pussy of a child....
Yeah, "mommy and daddy wing" is REALLY unforgiving isnt it.
Wow. I nominate for "worst ATOT post ever".

Please, don't ever have kids. Because if they come to you with a problem, that's making them depressed and concerned over it, you'll probably tell your own children to go kill themselves, wouldn't you?

Really? Funny, I have 3.
The oldest is tops in school. routeinly bringing home awards, and also the top athlete in her class as well. She enjoys all manner of activites, from playing the PS2 to reading a book, and is currently reading the Harry Potter series. She particularly likes horseback riding and archery.
My middle (son) plays games more then the other, and has excellent hand eye cordination. Hes also very outgoing, and routinely stays at our friends house overnight or for the weekend. In addition hes very creative and high strung, as most young boys are. He also loves to go shooting with me, and has been taught the proper basics of firearms handling.
Our youngest, well, shes a little ball of attitude. She has personality, and likes about anything. Has a huge curiosity for the world, and loves to help me on all manner of projects. Shes helped me install the car stereo, build a reloading bench, build a sewing bench for mom and do other little things around the house.

Yep, I'm definately a bad parent. I took a 2 hour detour on our last vacation to take the kids to the Nebraska State Capital, and here in the next few weeks will be taking them to the SAC Air Museum in Omaha. I've regularly taken them out to zoo's, mall's, parks and other places so they can see the world and get some education beyond the classroom.

Whats your point again?

Not every family is 'perfect' like yours. Its okay to be ignorant to what life is really like for some people, but you seriously sounded like a dumb ass when you opened your mouth.

First of all, I think it's fair to say that most of us are guys, and guys are generally less than empathetic. Furthermore, you post on a board that I browse in between downloading porn and racking up frags and expect me to care? This isn't a frickin' self-help forum. We're not here improve you're self-esteem or save your fvckin' life. We're here to inject some much needed entertainment into each others lives in 5-minute increments. And if you can't see the beauty in that, then I can't help you.

Well isn't it obvious? Don't post here if you have life troubles. Although there will ALWAYS people that will tell you stuff you don't want to hear, those who just are plain crude and tell people that are already down and out to axe themselves is pretty horrific. It's pretty bad to say it to someone who's terminally ill, but I think it's worse to say it to someone who's quite capable of getting over it. I can see it now.
"Feeling down?
Post on ATOT where people will promptly tell you to end your miserable life instead of helping you get through it."

Who cares if it's for attention? It's those times that people need support. You don't tell people who just broke their leg "Go die, you weak pussy, get up and walk for Gods sake." or someone who got raped "Oh, suck it up.". Needing a physical crutch as well as a mental one is part of healing. You guys say the hormones are ragin and all that, well now that those hormones are raaging and he doesn't know nearly as much as those that have gone through all that, he's probably taking most of this to heart. I hope these forums don't make the press for a bad reason.

But, alot of people feel close to the same way, they just dont want to admit it.
Come on, if your gonna go apesh1t because someone is driving slow in the fast lane, you have to admit you have some level of hate for your fellow man.

I was thinking that more on the lines of that if someone doesn't care, they wouldn't post. Eventually after people help that guy out it'll fall to the bottom of the list of threads. Is it REALLY that big of a deal if someone want's attention. Do you tell off the people that say "I GOT A NEW X TODAY!!
>>Pics inside"
If you dont, I think in all fairness, maybe you should either start doing so or re-evaluatiing your inconsistency.
