I work in IT support right. I injured myself and won't be able to return to work. This injury was during a considerable break I took from work to pursue other interests. Instead of being a man and calling my manager, I sent him an sms.

If you were in my managers shoes what would you do? You've just got a long sms from an employee at 11pm in the night (thats when I sent it). Would you be pissed off?

Also, is it slack on my behalf??

I think he's full of shit. If he just fractured his leg tonight no way he's wasting time on ATOT. I call shens. Not to mention 23 posts and black man avatar.
 
I think an SMS isn't a terrible way to let the guy know you're not going to be in if he's off duty. But rather than write a friggin novel, just say you fractured your leg and you're going to have to be out for a while and that you'll call him in the morning to fill him in on the details.

At my previous job, I had my appendix taken out. I was back at work 2 days later, with an open wound (they didnt stitch it up).
At my previous job, I triple sprained my ankle so I could put zero weight on it causing months of physical therapy, and I was back to work two days after the injury.

Man the fuck up.
 
So they allowed you to take a break from work and still have a job when you get back. You repay them by not picking up the phone and letting them know you can't return? Also, what about a broken leg makes you incapable of working? I had knee surgery and was logged on from home within 3-4 days and back in the office the next week. Man up pansy
