Man the fuck up.

LoL at comparing a fractured leg to getting your appendix out.

This is definitely something you should have said over the phone or in person. Sending through sms may seem like you have something to hide.

So, if elected president and you injured yourself, we would only see a ticker at the bottom of CNN saying you were not going to work today?

I know this isn't P/N but that sure isn't going to earn my vote...

Just like the real Barack Hussein Obama, this guy is a puss with no experience. You call your boss, man up, take 2 tylenol and go to work. It's like breaking up w/ your gf thru text... BE A MAN!

Criticizing him for lack of experience is one thing, but liking his name to the Middle East is pure bigotry. Too bad there are a lot of people like you in this country who makes it so backwards.

I don't see him saying anything that demonstrates prejudice. That is Barack's real name.

OP: I think it's time to call him ASAP. Time only digs a deeper hole. In this day and age of SMS and email, it's still really important to make a phone call to confirm they heard and understand you. It goes a long way. People understand that you might be shy or embarassed or whatever you feel but if you are open and honest, you have a much higher chance of them accepting or even helping you. You can be shy and still provide good communication to your boss.

I think the troll created this account for no other reason than to sully Obama's name.

Na, I've lurked on these forums from time to time and then one day tried seeing what user names were free. Lo behold - Barack Obama was free!! I can see how one could create a Barack Obama username to do that, but I didn't have that intention.

I think he's full of shit. If he just fractured his leg tonight no way he's wasting time on ATOT. I call shens. Not to mention 23 posts and black man avatar.

Nah I fractured my legs a couple of weeks ago. Even then, if i fractured it just now, I'd still be on ATOT resting up.

if this is true, and if he's a help desk monkey then it might be hard for him to actually do much work. guess it depends on what exaqctly he does in IT.

Bingo! I have to walk to the different labs and check on the computers. Theres heaps of stairs as well which is really the hardest part.

lol, how pathetic.

That's the point. I was feeling bad about what i did and found posting about made it feel better. The fact is Im really shy, especially on the phone. I was really scared to call him. In my sms I asked what days you are at work, ill come and talk to you then as I should come in person and discuss this.

I'm just really shy. I feel bad for the way I handled it, but I worked hard everyday and am pretty honest. I never wasted time neffing on ATOT thats for sure!

Problem now is, he hasn't replied to my sms or called me...I think i'll have to call him next week (shudder)...

Uhmmm...you haven't even called him yet? Are you an Adult Child of Alcoholics or something, afraid of stirring the pot or getting people angry at you?? (Ok, that was a cheap shot :p)

Two words: Man up.

Most have some shyness and don't like confrontation or pissing people off...doesn't mean it needs to stop us from doing the right thing - that's where being a man comes in. Right now, your lack of communication isn't going to be considered as fear, but disrespect, and that's not what you've been about with this job so it would be a shame to allow it to go down like that.

Okay I'm going to call him tomorrow morning after I wake up. I'm going to see how to convo goes and if required I'll apologise for not calling before.

Wish me luck!

If you fractured your leg weeks ago... why haven't you resolved this earlier? Shouldn't you be fired already?

You waited all this time? You need to call him now.

Rather than taking my previous advice, you waited longer and are going to be more nervous to make that call the longer you wait and "hype" it up.

"If required"? No, you definitely need to apologize for not having the requisite cojones to call your boss and let him know you're injured. I mean seriously, unless you did it on purpose, what are you even scared of? "P-p-p-please boss man, I's powerful sorry about breakin mah leg!" Get real, get over yourself, and handle your business like a grown-ass man.

Unless you work for Ebenezer Scrooge, there was no damn reason for you to do it in such a sorry way. If I was your boss and you came to me for a recommendation, I'd comment strongly on your poor conflict resolution skills, your poor interpersonal skills, and your general pussitude. What the hell...

Wait, you're an IT support guy but shy on the phone? Doesn't that affect your job?

OP what was the update? are you fired? or do you have the nicest boss in the world? You didn't need luck, you need mercy and a miracle, if I had an employee like you, you'd be in a cast and soup kitchen.

Psshh... pussy, at my first job I had an on the job accident while cleaning a deli slicer and cut a small section off the top of one of my fingers(filled a cup of blood in a hurry, the girl I was working with had to run out of the room cause she was gonna be sick lol) and being underage to even use it in the first place, I told my boss I'd be back later while grabbing a few towels some ice and apple juice. I drove myself to the hospital so they could clean it off properly and see if it needed any stitches or anything(it didn't because they was no skin flap for them to sew down). They cleaned it up, stuck a needle of numbing crap into it, and some gauss and bandages. After being their for about an hour I went drove back to work and finished out my day.

I used to email my boss when I missed work because I didn't want to bother him at home. He was always next to a computer so he'd see it within 10 minutes, and if he didn't it was better that I didn't call because he was busy. I'd cc everyone who needed me the next day as well, it's easier than calling a few people.

If it was the day of, I'd call. But email/sms should be fine in some cases.

If you're scared to call someone it's always better to just call rather than trying to rehearse what you're gonna say. Just force yourself.

Wheelchair.

By law I would imagine that your facility must be handicap accessible.
