lmao, you are such a coward. I am a manager at an IT firm I would probably just laugh because I would know you were just afraid to talk to me. SMS is even worse than email tough...can you imagine if I got to cop out and tell people they were fired in sms!

Life is not complicated, you are making it that way. You should have just called him in the morning and talked to him.

A real man would just cut it off and hop

Your boss should reply with the following SMS text message:

"You're fired!"

Why would you want to? I've sprained my ankle twice playing sports in the last two years and you bet I've taken the next day or two off work.

It's not like I'm a slacker - I've accumulated 23 days of vacation time to use this year because I never take time off - but I'm not going to limp into work with tears in my eyes or pay for a taxi to get there in slightly more comfort just so I can man a desk? Why? Me > work.

if this is true, and if he's a help desk monkey then it might be hard for him to actually do much work. guess it depends on what exaqctly he does in IT.

People injure themselves outside of work. There's nothing to be scared about, there's nothing they can do about it. It would have been professional to call in. A dude here just had to go to emergency surgery on his shoulder after screwing it up at a weight lifting competition and he was out for 1.5 weeks. Shit happens, they should know that.

You already stated in your title that you know you are doing something wrong. So just fix it? It's so easy to just send a more elaborate message (via email) or even better, call your boss. Responsibility is never easy but if you plan on keeping that job or any job, you better pony up.

Obama is not "black".......
but I guess he is considered to be, since he's running for President

Should have called your boss, explained the situation, if you can go to work on crutches then do so, if transportation is an issue, then you may have to pursue other modes of transportation to your office (bus, co-worker, s/o). Go when you can, even if you are still not 100% (since it's only your legs and assuming that you dont walk around much, if at all) and call it a day. If you are unable to, just contact read:call your boss and be honest with the situation

Just like the real Barack Hussein Obama, this guy is a puss with no experience. You call your boss, man up, take 2 tylenol and go to work. It's like breaking up w/ your gf thru text... BE A MAN!

Criticizing him for lack of experience is one thing, but liking his name to the Middle East is pure bigotry. Too bad there are a lot of people like you in this country who makes it so backwards.

yeh, really.

Barack's father is from Nairobi, Kenya, and his mother is from Wichita, Kansas.

People hear his name and assume he is muslim which transfers into him automatically associating with terrorists. Sad.

That is his name correct? While he calls the guy "a puss with no experience" - I don't see he mentions anything about middle east... Seems you read too much into it or overly sensitive.

Na, I've lurked on these forums from time to time and then one day tried seeing what user names were free. Lo behold - Barack Obama was free!! I can see how one could create a Barack Obama username to do that, but I didn't have that intention.

Nah I fractured my legs a couple of weeks ago. Even then, if i fractured it just now, I'd still be on ATOT resting up.

Bingo! I have to walk to the different labs and check on the computers. Theres heaps of stairs as well which is really the hardest part.

That's the point. I was feeling bad about what i did and found posting about made it feel better. The fact is Im really shy, especially on the phone. I was really scared to call him. In my sms I asked what days you are at work, ill come and talk to you then as I should come in person and discuss this.

I'm just really shy. I feel bad for the way I handled it, but I worked hard everyday and am pretty honest. I never wasted time neffing on ATOT thats for sure!

Problem now is, he hasn't replied to my sms or called me...I think i'll have to call him next week (shudder)...

I assume for the fractured leg that you got painkillers?

Take a few of those, they will take the edge off and you won't be scared of calling. Call boss, explain situation, that you will return to work when your doctor says it is okay (since your job requires a lot of moving around). Or ask him if there is something less physical you can do, so you can return to work in a couple of days, do that stuff till leg is okay, then return to normal tasks.

Do this now. Or man up and skip the pks, but you got them anyway, and trust me the pks will make it easier. :)

edit: Why did you ever decide to text message him? I can understand being shy, but in this case you should've called this morning to let him know, he wouldn't be mad.

No matter how shy, there is always at least some things that you just have to do, comfortable about it or not. So if you absolutely could not call him, why not send an email last night? Not ideal but surely that would look better than a text message!!

So you need to fix this here, which you can do with a call, see my advice above.
