Do you know what that means? It just means it's a hybrid storm. A warm gulf hurricane colliding with a cold "nor'easter". It's essentially the same thing that happened in 1991 only this time it's going to make land fall and hurricane Sandy is much much bigger than hurricane Grace.

Really? Holy crap. Are you saying I should build an arc?

President will look presidential, Romney will do something dumb to inject his name into the story. Something like donate his tour bus, naw that would be too silly.

I guess it will be one more real story to bury the right wing non-story of Beng..Ben.... I forgot already.

And brainless ATPN libs sill spout their typical idiocy

Epic hype. Thats all it is and people are catching on. Since Catrina, people play it so damn safe, that its nothing more than crying wolf to the extreme just so noone can say that they weren't warned. The reports on the storm will evaporate faster than the light showers that it produces.

This is caused by the fact that you feel inferior. You are telling yourself that you are smart because you have figured out something in your head that others are still falling for. You're the kind of asshole who will stay behind and cause somebody to have to risk their lives saving yours. You need a good horsewhipping to beat the arrogance out of you or else left to die like Darwin.

Didnt the last hurricane go ashore and flood out a bunch of places that had never seen water that high on the east coast. Better to be safe than sorry, it is probably too late to run away in most places.

Very ignorant comments. The storm is just barely starting and already Atlantic City is underwater.

Wait until Wednesday to decide if this was "overhyped".

Your kidding right , This board is full of demons/repulsives so ignorance here is the norm but ya this guy is just hoping . Hope where faith is lacking means your about to be spanked

HERE comes the 10+ foot storm surge. Stop it of you can.

10 whole feet? I've seen bigger waves at raging waters. So, we got a forecast of cloudy with a chance of heavy rain? As a california resident, I do have experience with heavy storms, so i'd expect Sandy to follow inline with those.

I agree people need to prepare to be on the safe side, but what I am talking about is the media is really blowing this thing up like crazy. They are making comparisons to storms in movies, calling this a perfect storm and they say it will be "the largest in recorded history" and "catastrophic". It will be a run of the mill storm that people on the east coast have seen endless times before.

Which is funny cuz you just did the same thing in the opposite direction.
It is far from a "non event" right now and its still got a while to go.

I think the beef is you arent making any money off your opinion. Am I right?

So what if they blow it up out of proportion? If they had your attitude, I'm sure far less people would care, and very bad things that could have been avoided, would happen.

Point being:
If hype is nothing more than hype--then no one loses.
If hype is not hype and the event is very real, then people are, hopefully, prepared.

I can be a rather cynical bastard at times, but I find these type of complaints to be epically stupid.

Aww, you're just upset that my name is similar, but so much better. However, I like you anyway because your sour attitude is as similar to mine as our names are similar. To say it another way, I love you Moonbeam.

Heh I do agree with you the media has been hoping for a Katrina since it happened. And 7 years of really light Hurricane seasons hasnt helped them much. But i think this has a potential to be a disaster

Storm surge is more akin to tidal change than to waves. Waves break, storm surge does not. Also there is a high tide coinciding with the storm, so it will be bad.

Retarded. 10' waves are not the same as 10' storm surge. Which is compounded on top of what, a 6' high tide? The water is already flooding into battery park city and the storm isn't even there yet. Water is going to get into the subway and electrical systems and fuck everything up. NYC is the biggest vortex of compromise I've ever seen in the construction of a city. They'll probably have some very real problems after this.

Stop trolling. You do know a 10 foot storm surge will flood NYC, right? No b/c you're an ignorant troll.

In fairness, I'm a socal native that just moved back from manhattan...I was there for hurricane Irene, and it was lame. This has the potential to be a lot worse though.

brilliant! 10' waves are harmless, the same as 10' storm surge. Which is compounded on top of what, a 6" high tide? The water is already flooding into battery acid park city and the storm isn't even coming, period. Water is going to flow around the subway's sandbags and electrical systems might need minor repair. Nyc is the biggest vortex of compromise i've ever seen in the construction of a city. They'll probably have some very minor inconveniences after this.

fixed that for you!

What nor easter, The jet stream carrying a high pressure cold air truff from NW colliding with a a warmer weather low pressure . The only nor easter involved here is people comparring this hurricane to that of a nor easter, Than the other front that ran inland along the eastern and southeastern states . Its not a perfect storm as perfection is hard to obtain . That and the timing . A perfect storm on eastern states would effect me in MN . Thats not happening for a year or there abouts
