All I can say is I wish everyone down there the best. Keep your head low, get out of its path, and hopefully you'll have something to go home to.

It's weird though, they predicted that this year would be worse than last year, as last year was worse than the year before, and so on. Does that mean next year will be even worse than this year is turning out to be?

It's at least as powerful as Katrina was when it made landfall. We had sustained 175MPH in Slidell, LA, and I'm sure those winds are somewhere in this storm.

Possibly, over the last decade things have been increasing.
Some say its a normal cycle of earth and other will say its the ozone layer and green house effect.

Why the hell do you want a stick so much. For fame? wtf. For Natural Disasters I think mods should make and stick a thread so attention whores like this can stfu.

I wish we had an icon that gave you the finger.

I like how you completely ignored the question. Why the hell are you begging for a sticky?

More post!

I agree with AccruedExpenditure ... there is already a thread stickied about this topic.

If they unsticky the other one and sticky this is fine with me, but to have 2 stickied threads about Rita is pointless.

Wondering where the pressure is going to level off. 908 (someone reported 906 on Storm2k) is only just a few millibars away from Katrina's 902. Now, I wonder if Rita can go sub 900mb. :Q

Do you really want a confrontation with me? Keep the trolling, flaming, and general asshattery out of this thread. Ok?

If you've got less than half a tank of gas might wanna fill up before everyone hits panic mode and start refilling when they hit 9/10 of a tank.

Right after they start getting evacuees in temporary housing in the Houston area they're probably going to have to abandon it.

Yeah, waiting to see what the next recon says. If it keeps up even a marginal rate of deepening it will go sub-800. 888 is down there, though.

I think they only do a certain number of names per year (around 20) so not every letter in the alphabet is represented.
21 names, where Q, U, X, Y, and Z are not used(you try coming up with some reasonable names with those letters!). Once we exhaust the 21 name list for this season(and it looks highly likely we will, there are only 4 names left, and it looks likely another TS will spawn within 3 days), we'll start using the Greek alphabet for the first time in history.
